Unbelievably Good
|
Coworkers and management are now my dearest friends. Incredibly flexible schedule. Very relaxed but well paced work flow. Environment is unmatched. Food is good. Coffee and alcohol selection is good and occasionally rotating. Might go down as the best place I’ll ever work at.

Working here opened me up to meeting so many people in the town of Easton. I'd have to say I appreciated that more then anything else this job had to offer me. You made it your own thing. There were few rules to fallow. I loved making espresso drinks.

great starter job

fast paced most mornings, and becomes moderate traffic throughout the day. I've learned how to better interact with people because this was a store of the neighborhood. upbeat work place culture, hardest part for me was having to have some dexterity, because you sometimes would have to work a morning by yourself, which meant that you would be dealing with phone calls and customers at the register as well. the most enjoyable part of the day was being able to learn how to partake in different roles throughout the restaurant and that ranged anywhere from prepping food to making store runs for needed items.

Relaxed work space

It is a great place to let your creative juices flow. A very relaxed vibe creates joy and chaos all at once. There was a lack in management, but the freedom of creation made up for it. However, higher pay would have been good compensation.

We are open from breakfast to dinner. And provide a wide array of food, beverages, and niche market treats that are created by the kitchen staff fresh. Most days I would work a breakfast shift, be at work an hour before service, prep for breakfast, then proceed to prep for lunch and dinner. Most of the business is breakfast and lunch, so portioning deli meats, preparing sauces, soups, and creating daily features. On a regular day we prepare food to maintain certain levels of stock as well as anticipate trends to minimize waste or use product that is being pushed. Making food orders with the food distributors is something we do several times a week and have an inventory that is sourced from a few different suppliers as well as local farms.
The executive chef is a great lady, and has been there only months before I was hired, she has taught me confidence with my culinary skills, and introduced me to food, techniques, and changed my perspective on many aspects of my life as I have grown.
The crew that would consistently of the core group who seem to survive the turnover in the restaurant industry are what really seems to give the cafe it's soul.. there are only a handfull of us, but we are competent, and sometimes tempers flare, but the heat of the kitchen can be a cruel mistress, and have never had any misgivings that all of our intentions were good in the end.
Losing people, long days without breaks, burns and cuts are all part of the job, but being careful can prevent most physical ailments.
I love showing up everyday to greet my coworkers and engage with them about their lives, maybe some joking around to keep spirits high when busy, knowing my coworkers are happy makes me feel good. At the end of the day though, knowing that after a catering that took a week to prepare for someone's wedding, executing the event, and being able to keep a straight face as there is a frenzy of food behind the scenes whole the client is enjoying themselves.
