busy workplace with social dispatchers and great employee break room
A typical day as a dispatcher at rescue alert start with me getting to the response center and grabbing my headset, headphones and phone charging cord. i then go choose what work station i want to sit at, and try and sit next to my friends that i prefer to socialize with. I learned a great deal of patience working there and dealing with the elderly on a regular basis. at the end of the day i know i would want whoever is dealing with my grandparents or parents to be as kind and patient as possible, especially when working with electronics. Management at rescue alert is great, they don't act holier than thou, they just help however they can and steer you in the right direction. the culture is great - everyone smiles and says hi in passing. the hardest part of dispatching is when you get an emergency where someones life is in danger and you need to get as much info as possible and as quickly as possible to relay it to the paramedics. what i enjoy most about working here is that i feel ive made a difference in someone's life on a daily basis.

Awesome
Would work there again in a heartbeat. Unfortunately by trusting the wrong person with the wrong information I can never work there again.
Can be very stressful in the beginning but once you get past that and you know what your doing, its a very fulfilling job in all aspects.

Good, comfortable, fun environment.
The work days were usually relaxed it was an overall laid back environment with not that heavy of a work load. Hardest part was staying productive all the time.

Unfair work environment if you are not family do not work here
This job is very unprofessional. Unless you are family you will not get anywhere with this job. What they do here, "save lives" is a good thing, but unless you are friends with the family you will get treated very poorly. They give family and friends more time off and preferred shifts. If you like drama it is the place for you as well.

Good Stepping Stone
Rescue Alert overall is a decent company with great intentions. They manufacture and monitor their own Personal Alert Systems, such as Life Alert (Help I've fallen and I cannot get up!). They have two emergency response centers equipped for taking all emergent and non-emergent calls. The first of which is in South Jordan, UT, The second is in ST. George, UT. The client base is around 92% Elderly. You are required to have and keep CPR/AEMD certifications, however the company will put you through said courses. The company says that the response center is the "Life line of the company" but they treat the employees like they are replaceable. The company also tends to staff their response center with the minimum staffing they feel is sufficient instead of having extra employees on hand to deal with increased call volume. With just a couple dollars an hour increase (which the company can afford) they would have much less turn around and much happier employees. The employees themselves are overall okay, normal workplace drama. There are several nice raises at the beginning of your employment, but with nothing after unless you are promoted to senior levels, which is few and far between. Pay starts at $10.00 an hour for paid training, which then goes to around $11.50, after working 400 hours, you go up to $12.50, there is one last raise, up to $13.50, but I forget what the requirements are for that.
Break room supplied with food at a reduced cost, Health Benefits are decent, Over-time is frequently available, Two response center locations
Pay too low for what you are asked to do, very strict work place with many new protocols on a monthly basis, under staffed

Very Fulfilling
This was without a doubt the most fulfilling job I have had to date. It was wonderful to literally be able to save lives on a daily basis. Being a supervisor is a very demanding job at Rescue Alert. A lot of time and effort goes into making sure that everything is running as it should, however, understanding that lives literally rest in your hands makes it all valuable and very worthwhile.
Working with wonderful people everyday
The hours were literally demands of service
