Pretty quiet and comfy place. Colleagues here are AWESOME, maybe because 95% of them are interns; we are all empathetic towards one another. Maybe learn LOTS of things, I suppose, if you are into those kind of things. Get ready for the best time of your life! You will not only get involved in lots of things here that is irrelevant to your job scope but also have the chance to get up close and personal with the earth's greatest species, the octopus! That's right, this CEO, claiming to be the octopus and having studied crisis management, you can now experience it yourself! But be careful, this octopus freaks out over the tiniest matter so you do not want to trigger her. Tries too hard to impress people. Also, be prepared to work your butts off, especially on things that isn't required on your job scope, deliver salads to customers maybe? But oh well, you might get to "experience many things in this company that would shape you into a hybrid that would be prepared for anything because you don't normally get to work on different things like other companies do." Oh right, did I mention that we are a mutant school now? Apparently it's even better than Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters. Hmm, try again Ms Rita, maybe a little more originality perhaps. Remember kids, always address the CEO as Ms Rita- Not Miss nor Madam nor whatever, MS Rita. Last but not least, to survive in this dying MEDIA company, a thick jacket is essential. When I say thick I really mean THICK. This place is equivalent to the North Pole. Ah right, they left. Uh oh. Honestly speaking, don't tell your employees to be early if you can't even be on time. You might go by the "the boss is always right" saying but this is 2016. Camera equipments are faulty. PLEASE. I don't know if you notice this but having your employees leave in such a hurry definitely shows something, or is it because your tentacles are blocking you that you can remain so oblivious? So a few of us came in with an open mind. Interestingly, our batch of interns had the best 5 months and lots of fun. In fact, until today, former interns are rehired with a full-time position and some of us still work part-time juggling school and work. The pay is regular. Friends are great. Management is cool. No red tapes. What you see is what you get. We get to explore and be the best that we can be. As millenials that is a golden opportunity especially when our bosses try to udnerstand the way we think and behave. Refreshing and nurturing environment. While we find the boss and management understanding, what we don't understand are the middle managers who are nice in front of the bosses but are very nasty behind them. When the company finally did a major clean-up of their middle management and all the bad staff are gone, things got better. At least the seniors we are reporting to, have real skill-sets. Just be careful that the former disgruntled employees will not leave you alone and will always try to "warn" people. It is so childish. Wish this "alumni" of disgruntled employees will just grow up and get a life! Some of your worst enemies is not your former company, it is the "friends" you keep and really gossiping is not healthy. Please do something useful with your life like get a real job. There was opportunity to learn from the various freelancers (when they did do production.) And as they say, it is always good to know the flipside. There were many delusions of grandeur that you will only know after seeing past the rosy-tinted glass. So let's begin from the top. The contract is simply dodgy to the company's advantage. You've basically sold your days, nights, weekends, happiness, creativity, and all short of your first born child once you sign that dotted lines. They will talk about being a family, but the CEO will insist that you call her Ms Rita. It is almost natural to feel Stockholm syndrome, and try to be devoted to this company named after Rita herself. But it will never be enough. You will learn that the world “transmedia” is interchangeable with “multitasking”, how curious. There have been countless times that I wished I’d given her a dictionary to explain what those words meant. She prides herself as a multi-tacker, and doesn’t understand people with one track accomplishment systems - she will berate you for your inability to be like her. That said, her multitasking ability is hilarious when she asks you the same question thrice in a span of a few minutes. Rita is not versed with social media, slang, or technology, despite giving talks that she is all in it. She once made an employee find a tutor for her children months before their major exams. And when no tutor would take that rushed job, she paid another employee to teach her spawns after work. She has given radio talks and appeared on television talking about teaching her children to be independent. I doubt neglect is comparable to independence. Rita will never forget to humble brag about her past glories and her apparent abilities. Fret there are discrepancies when one tells you she was once part of a multi-million dollar events company, and can barely manage anything in between. She will assign you roles that are seemingly for your won growth, but are in fact filling gaps. Instead of having you do the job you were meant to. Her attempts at having a Social Enterprise arm is completely bogus. Once requested to help pro-bono for an NGO, she instead charged at the usual rate with a slight discount she said came from her own pocket. Honestly, don’t even offer to be a social enterprise if you cannot afford it. You might think this is a production company. But it isn't. There are so many divisions to this company, that you will inevitably find yourself either baking her Hari Raya Kueh, or delivering them, or somehow making salads or porridge. Being an employee in this company will make sure you have two portable batteries with the amount of text messages she will send. I once fell asleep, like a human being, at 2am, and was scolded both on the phone and in the office for not replying in spite doing so once I woke up at 8am. It was for a small matter. But what’s that mean to a micro-manager? Rita will favour her employees very obviously. And she will always have a scapegoat. It was unkind, but the affair in the office was so blatant that even the freelancers would warn you of such. There are truly many more nonsense that goes on beyond this place. I gain nothing from warning people of this place, and if you think i could be lying, do read the other reviews, or call up MOM for the many complaints lodge and even court cases. Don't function on interns, and work them to the bone. Don't expect people to be early when you never will be. Don't call employees who quit, "weeds". Don't act all high and mighty discriminating Malay workers and potential partners because you (i) don't want to just be "an ambassador of the Malay community", (ii) racist to your own race due to your own flaws. Rita, don't talk about your salad company, AMGD, like you endorse them. It is your company. You run it from your kitchen. You get interns and employees to go to your home (or your sister's was it?) every morning to prepare salad. Sell all your equipment - Mark III, C-Stand, audio recording booth, edit suites, etc. if you are a food company. You will learn a lot from all their wrongdoings. You'll learn the art of licking balls. If you're curious to know how it feels like to torture yourself, this is the place to be. If you're finding time to waste and those who would love to waste your life, this is it right here. Challenge yourself! Experience double standards. Doing work out of your own job-scope.
