AdWords Certification Worth It
|
|
I worked with and for a bunch of really good people ar Revana, Specifically in the Google Program, the rest of the company is a joke. Our training class was the only one ever where everybody passed the certification exams the first time. The company was so pleased they put us on a fast track to the AdWords Agency department. I stayed one year and learned everything I could about Google AdWords.
Then I left the company and started my own business with the information I learned at Revana. It was the best decision I ever made and has paid off in many ways. My company is AdWords Insider. I'm a one person AdWords Agency and Google Partner, all thanks to Revana!
|
Training was a bit confusing and disorganized. That's about it.

You can't afford to pay smart AdWords Certified individuals even if you are the ones that train them. Good luck.

Competitive benefits. Casual attire (program dependent). Good incentives. Recognition of individual achievements.

It's a call center outsourcing company, which means, you may be employed for a particular client program that get's cancelled. Although, they usually give you the option to move to a different program.

Web Chat Rep - Don't expect much and you'll be fine.
|
|
The work is simple, you work with a lot of other people, mostly in their 20's-30's. I ended up making more than a couple good friends while working there and I have some great memories of our interactions, talking and laughing our butts off a lot of the time. If you're kind of a slacker you would probably get by here.
|
The pay isn't anything to write home about. When I was there it was a buck above minimum wage, and although during interviews and during training the managers and corporate muckity-mucks will absolutely cram your head full of unbelievable optimism about your potential to earn commission...take it with a few thousand grains of salt because once you're a couple months out of training you'll learn like everyone else does that no matter how hard you strive for excellence, you aren't going to be raking it in. A server at Applebees makes more in a couple nights of tips.
The insulting thing about commission at Revana is that every couple-few months they end up doing a restructuring of how commission is earned, and the managers are coached to manipulate the truth and convince their employees that the restructuring will be a change that increases the likelihood of earning more commission. But the simple truth is, they constantly have people working on ways to convolute and befuddle the process of how your "metrics" are calculated when it comes to how much you'll actually earn.

As for the team managers...I just feel bad for them. They don't make much more than the chat/phone reps (I don't think) and it has to be like herding cats to try and make your team of 8-10 twenty-somethings give a crap about doing anything more than the bare minimum. As far as corporate goes...well who cares.

There are advancement opportunities available. Multiple clients and sites provide opportunity for change/growth. Their PTO plan was pretty good. benefits plan was pretty good, but that was before the Affordable Health Care Act, so, it may have changed.
|
It is a call center, so schedules tend to change often. Company tends to rely heavily on offshore resources for workforce related positions, limiting the advancement potential. Pay tends to be below industry standard.

chaos, no organization - nobody seems to know what they are doing and most people are entirely unmotivated. low pay and you work with clowns - dudes used to play dice everyday around their desks for example.

You get to learn the Adwords system and that can open a lot of doors for you later. If you need a job take it and keep it for a year then get a better one. Also easy to move up, in that company.
|
The company treats you like cattle, we had great desks before then switched us to cattle stalls. It was so bad I could smell the guys next to me deodorant.

I remember once a week they would have vendors come into the lunch room. Their food was good. I learned a lot about sales while I was there.

Didn't seem like the people near me where as motivated as I was to work hard. Some of the negativity can get contagious.
