They've provided a flexible work environment and the support I've needed to do my job remotely. The work hasn't slowed down. That comes with the territory working in this industry though. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 633325 Open Thank you for caring about me not only as an employee but as a person first! 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 0.0 Apr 11th, 2021 08:51PM Apr 11th, 2021 08:51PM Revel

private:revel-3 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=633325 Aug 21st, 2017 12:00AM Open Open Revel Marketing Former Employee Revel has made its way as one of Muskegon's best and brightest ad agencies. Good place to work as a fast paced environment, and plenty of opportunity to work with corporate clients. Don't work here if you want a portfolio after you leave. After I left the company denied any work for portfolio use. Video department feels like a one man band, some help is provided from graphic design employees, but mainly left on your own, while a team of 4-5 graphic designers and 2-3 web developers work collectively on multiple projects. Not a good place to work if you're looking for video opportunity. Time tracking is absolutely terrible. Logging every minute of every part of billable time removes time for creativity. Imagine having to manually log 2 minutes after every 2 minute conversation? Account mangers don't give you opportunity to see and understand clients budget and time for specific video projects well in advance. So quoting for video projects tends to be way off from expected delivered material. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 2.0 1.0 3.0 4.0 1.0 4.0 3.0 633325 Open Fix all of the above, and take care of your employees. Ad agencies are not supposed to be "machine like shops" pumping out work like it's products on an assembly line. Creativity, Proper Time Management, and Team work comes first when being a creative, and all else will follow. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 1.0 Apr 11th, 2021 08:51PM Apr 11th, 2021 08:51PM Revel
private:revel-3 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=633325 Aug 18th, 2017 12:00AM Open Open Revel Marketing Muskegon, MI Good Things Are Happening. There has been a lot of changes this year with a focus on specialization. The people I work with are awesome! Managers are big on having the right person in the right seat. They try to match my strengths with job responsibilities I excel at. The most recent hires come with a lot of industry experience and they are willing to share and bring new perspectives. Organizational change can be stressful anywhere you work, but it's necessary to be better. The people I work with have been supportive of the changes. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 3.0 5.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 633325 Open Stay the course! private:revel-3 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=633325 Jul 21st, 2017 12:00AM Open Open Revel Marketing Art Director Some good things, some things that could use improvement. A good variety of work to build your portfolio. A decent amount of responsibility given, should you want it, to help gain the experience you need in the industry. While some growth is in order for the leadership, overall they're cool people. Other employees are great. A lack of dedicated project management made for high stress situations and projects that came out underwhelming and took forever. Leadership that can be passive aggressive and condescending to employees. Processes and agency direction often change; there was not much continuity or focus. Constantly trying to stay above water. No room to move up in the company, get the experience you need and move on if you have higher ambitions for your career. Time tracking. Need I say more there? -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 2.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 2.0 3.0 2.0 633325 Open Find good talent and pay them well, then set them free. If you want to retain that talent, find a way to rid of time tracking; it stifles creativity and motivation. Inspire your creative team. Micromanagement and authoritarian mindsets do not mix well with creative-types. Put together some kind of reliable project management to take client stress off of designers to at least some degree. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Apr 11th, 2021 08:51PM Apr 11th, 2021 08:51PM Revel

Employee feedback is valued and hard work is rewarded. Beer and food provided in the office. Great culture. private:revel-3 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=633325 May 11th, 2016 12:00AM Open Open Revel Marketing Muskegon, MI No heart nor soul, only dollars (and not that many) If this is literally the only job that you can get, there is in fact a small paycheck. It beats homelessness (narrowly.) Company owners fancy themselves on an episode of small struggling post-industrial Mad Men (but with more narcissism). They fail to consider employees as people, but instead as resources to be mined, while espousing positive values as a means to convince employees that if they give all of themselves, such commitment will eventually be reciprocated. Spoiler alert: it will not. In my short tenure, I saw ultra committed and talented people fired, countless people quit, and still others have their salaries reduced, told to either take it or "we'll just find some college kid who will work for nothing." -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL -1.0 DISAPPROVE 7.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 633325 Open Your "hard decisions" are not par for the course for being a businessman, they are par for the course for being a bad person. If you cannot run a company with integrity (use your turnover to judge how you're doing) don't run a company at all. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Apr 11th, 2021 08:51PM Apr 11th, 2021 08:51PM Revel
