The pay is more than fair for remote work. There is flexibility in scheduling and we have a lot of freedom to teach how we think is best. Management cares about tutor retention and development. Work from home, great students, fair pay, good resources available Long workdays on Sundays 0.0 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 Jan 29th, 2021 06:46PM Mar 19th, 2021 07:55PM Revolution Prep

The communication between teachers advisors and my leader is wonderfully kind and professional. The company is fair and has tons of resources to help the teacher deliver the best tutoring session there is. 0.0 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 0.0 5.0 Jan 29th, 2021 06:46PM Mar 20th, 2021 01:02PM Revolution Prep
private:revolutionprep https://www.indeed.com/cmp/revolution-prep/reviews Aug 10th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Open Revolution Prep Professional Tutor Remote USA great co-workers, good students, OK management They have a very specific approach to both the tests and to tutoring- if you vibe with that, you'll be successful, and if you don't, this will be a rough job. I would say if you find training tiring but fun, you'll like working as a tutor. If you find it tiring and stressful, you'll find the job tiring and stressful. Working hours are not great and do include Sundays, although there is more daytime work since COVID. The schedule does vary but I'm steadily between 20-35 hours per week, 3-10 hours per day, which is fine for me. The students are mostly fun to work with and it's exciting to see them grow. There's definitely and expectation that you be willing and able to help them with all aspects of test prep as well as at least some academic subjects. Mostly working with very well-off kids but meh it's a business, once in a while you get to work with kids who really need us. It is true that metrics are constantly changing- I do believe management is always trying to make things better but the issue is they're ALWAYS changing things to try to make them better. I will say they've become more objective and less personality-driven over the years. Co-workers are great though the only time to really associate with them is at unpaid "happy hours" or "brunches". The lower-level management (which they call Faculty Leaders) are fantastic. The Directors on up probably not so much- I think they try but of what I would consider 3 important aspects- business knowledge, understanding of and experience in managing people, and and understanding of the kind of education we do- the ones I've seen have lacked at lest one. They've recently gotten a real CEO instead of the adhoc executing of the founders, which is a good thing, but he came in not much before COVID and I don't think we've had a chance to see if he can walk the walk of the good talk he's talked. good pay for what I do, enjoyable work irregular schedule, inconsistent and sometimes mean management 0.0 0.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 5.0 4.0 3.0 Jan 29th, 2021 06:46PM Mar 20th, 2021 03:57PM Revolution Prep
private:revolutionprep https://www.indeed.com/cmp/revolution-prep/reviews Aug 7th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Open Revolution Prep Professional Tutor Remote USA Not a lot of complaints, best job I ever had up till now. I work here as a remote test prep tutor and I have to say it's the best job I've ever had thus far. I have control over my schedule, the students and parents are mostly easy-going, staff and faculty are nice, supportive people, and pay is good. I might be biased because of my poor experienced with previous jobs. I work best remotely and there's lots of room for growth and nontutoring opportunities. Love it and hope to grow in it. Flexibility, great support, a lot of control over your work life balance, okay pay None really 0.0 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 Jan 29th, 2021 06:46PM Mar 20th, 2021 03:57PM Revolution Prep
private:revolutionprep https://www.indeed.com/cmp/revolution-prep/reviews May 27th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Open Revolution Prep Tutor Santa Monica, CA USA High Learning Curve, High Burnout Rate This review is written from a tutor's point of view, not management or sales (advising). Tutor training is a week long slog, full of emotional breakdowns. The first day we were given one ten minute break after multiple hours of training. I was in so much pain that I almost dropped out. Miraculously, the trainer started giving us breaks the next day. The company sends in its best and brightest to train you and give THOROUGH (sometimes scathing) critiques of your tutoring ability. Training is not for the faint of heart, but you WILL learn a lot about test prep. However, that is often where the learning ends; I've been with the company for quite a while and never been trained for any new subjects. Even when I have requested two to three hours of training to brush up on AP Test material, I have been denied. Upper management plays favorites, and corporate politics encroaches on my ability to educate my students. The company piles on paperwork and promotes based largely on your ability to complete said paperwork. We are barely paid for prep time but are asked to have detailed learning objectives for each session. Speaking of promotion and advancement: to receive any kind of upward mobility, you have to make this company your entire life. You must stay in semi-constant contact with all of the principal people ,without annoying them, to get work hours. Last review, I did not make promotion. "This is fine" I thought, "I'll improve these things and get better next time." However, the metrics for promotion are completely different each review. Everything that I had improved upon has gone out the window and been replaced with something else a month before the review. Expectations are never clearly communicated, and we are expected to go out and find the tools to keep up with paperwork ourselves. It was recommended to me that I post 45+ hours a week of availability (instead of the required 35) if I wanted to be staffed with work. I chose the company to specifically accommodate severe, chronic health conditions and soon realized that this might not be the haven that I had hoped. Lastly, company culture is a big, divided mess. There are three groups of people: tutors, salespeople doing their best, misc. employees (curriculum and HR), and management. Tutors get together about four times a month at completely random times to shoot the breeze and do activities. Most people do not make a lot of friends within the company. For a while, the tutoring side and sales side had a terrible relationship; now, we have a mandatory meeting once a quarter to make sure everyone is getting along. Lastly: for a long time, people would imply (or sometimes outright say) the words "tutors should know this alread" when I asked a question about our prep materials. I have since stopped asking questions unless I trust someone fully. Every time a new metric is announced or we are "pilot testing" a new procedure, I spend two days in tears. I know I will be poorly trained on whatever is being added and that I will inevitably fall behind because of it. Every time the metrics for promotions are announced, I spend a week crying instead, knowing that they have added something subjective that could be used to demote me from the progress I have made. I never know what the next month will look like. I'm hoping to be on my way out soon. Most of my work confidants have either left already, or are looking at their options. We're tired of management and can't take the uncertainty anymore. Benefits: -pay is competitive in the online tutoring market -you can (sort of) set your own hours -it's a great place to work part time (maybe even full time) if you have a thick skin -you can watch your coworkers get drunk on Zoom once a month -the curriculum is good, for the most part -all test prep materials needed are provided by the company unless a student runs out of work on a certain topic. -your kitchen is your break room -management (usually) stands up to Karens instead of throwing employees under the bus. -the students are the best part of the job by far Drawbacks: -you could potentially make much more freelancing. -be prepared to give a lot of availability, and potentially stay up to 2am if you're on East Coast time. -be ready for monthly changes in metrics, procedure, expectations, paperwork routines, and work hours. -getting promoted can be difficult if you are not a very specific type of person (unless you tutor advanced STEM subjects) -you are only allowed 3 substitute tutors PER YEAR of teaching prep courses, otherwise you are written up and put on restricted status. -there is nothing resembling a union. -management is distant and difficult to talk to. -you WILL work outside of your paid time to do your job well -no unpaid time off -availability must be posted half a year in advance; three months to plan a vacation with family is "last minute" to RP. 0.0 0.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 3.0 Jan 29th, 2021 06:46PM Mar 20th, 2021 01:09PM Revolution Prep

This place will KILL anyone who is truly gifted and wants to teach. They will promise advances in the company that you will never get. They will force you to teach topics their way, even if it is not ideal for the student and you KNOW this. My students always thrived far more when I catered to them specifically, but would be admonished. When I tried their way, my students didn't thrive and I would be admonished. They make sure you can never succeed with them. Probably so they'll never have to give you the raise they promised. 6.0 0.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 Jan 29th, 2021 06:46PM Mar 19th, 2021 08:32PM Revolution Prep

The company is young and is still finding their best model, so things can change quickly (almost always in a positive way). You have total control of your schedule, but it is based on PST so some of the hours can be late for EST. They are very accommodating and want to keep tutors, so just let your faculty leader know if you have issues. Highly recommend. Work life balance. Compensation.
