Nearby food court (Kaki bukit) is relatively cheap 3. If you can play office politics well, life can be chill 1. Office has very bad condition, and unsafe environment (narrow entrance and has truck, container in n out) 2. Management has no idea how to motivate employees. Just add more and more irrelevant to your job scopes' workloads. (without explaining it) 3. Minimal to no benefits - almost no budget for anything. 4. Since it is a family business, decisions are ALWAYS made top-down with no room for discussion or negotiation. Whatever or however the family wants it to be, it must be. 2. They are super secretive about everything, hence there are lots of hidden information that are actually required for your work to be done. You won't know what you don't know, and hence you'd always end up in a situation where you have to firefight and make changes at the last min. 3. There is no respect to processes and timelines that were put in place, because anything can be randomly and suddenly urgent for no specific reasons. 4. There is absolutely zero autonomy as to how you should or want to get the job done. They just want you to do it the way they want it to be, and also just do as they say so. 5. There is fake democracy and it is always like a communist society here. "No" is not accepted as an answer, and your opinions were only asked for the sake of asking. Top down decisions override any other POVs. 6. Work processes are unnecessarily redundant, and because information are highly secretive, you'll need to go through many layers of own PI work in order to find out something as simple as ABC. 7. Systems are "in place" but not in use. They are there just because other companies are using it, but these systems are making people's life miserable. 8. Benefits are miserably minimal, and the company doesn't care about the employees. During difficult times (pandemic), it's sad to realise how little they care for employees and their welfare. While we see other companies giving out appreciation/caring gifts such as vouchers, cakes, credits for shopping at Guardian/Watson etc, this company doesn't even bear to give out 1 or 2 surgical masks to protect its employees when they actually have boxes and boxes in stock. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 682101 Open No advice to the management. private:rge https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=682101 Mar 19th, 2021 12:00AM Open Open RGE Department Head Singapore Company with alot of growth opportunities but very unique culture - Alot of opportunities for people who want to be challenged and grow - People who are flexible and open minded will thrive in this fast paced environment - Company is growing alot in terms of investments globally - There are opportunities to be exposed to the very senior management and family members and able to see one's work make a direct impact to the bottom line - Opportunities are there to manage entire business units (local and overseas) for those who prove themselves - Very unique and secretive senior management, at times bothering on illogical (i guess Indo families can be really secretive but it's up to them how to run things) - Leave benefits are terrible. Only 14 days for everyone including senior management (but honestly you wouldn't have time to take 14 days even. hurhur...) - Medical and dental benefits for oneself and family are acceptable though. - Most or all the time, there's too much workload per person whether junior or senior. Not enough bandwidth to focus and go deep on core strategies and responsibilities. (but if you can thrive here, any other company will be a walk in the park. You will be trained under grueling conditions to deliver more and outlast the rest cause many quit.) - The turnover rate here, not surprisingly, is very high! Many newcomers don't last beyond few years - some even quit less than 1 year! If you can't make the cut, you will quit soon. If you are really good and can thrive, likely you will be poached soon for much bigger packages elsewhere. - Overall negative comments on Glassdoor here... hurhur - Interview candidates keep asking about whether Glassdoor comments are real (I'm running out of politically correct answers already.) - Very very hard to attract the A-star caliber candidates cause of earlier comment (nuff said!) -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 NO_OPINION 1.0 3.0 1.0 1.0 4.0 2.0 3.0 682101 Open Many reviewers have said the same thing already - change the culture for the better. Employees want a thriving and positive culture that they can proudly associate themselves with. The competition for talent in Singapore is so intense with so many more progressive MNCs located here (looking to invest more, make Singapore their regional or even global HQ and basically hire more). Not everyone will move just for money. Money can only do so much to attract talent. private:rge https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=682101 Feb 10th, 2021 12:00AM Open Open RGE Singapore Honestly a bad place overall If you like to chill and just focus on your work, don't ask questions and just follow instructions - this could be a place for you. - Micro-management (Mgmt is always right, just have to listen to them, they will anyway override your ideas/ inputs) - Toxic work culture (where colleagues just fend for themselves, little to no collaboration) - Little value-add (ultimately, Singapore is just the corporate office - cost centre, where people produce reports for little to no reason, just because mgmt asks for it, but has no real value-add or follow up) - No sense of ownership to the firm (there are little to no cohesion activities, either by company or by colleagues - people here just come to office, work and leave - you are right, it's quite a depressing environment) - No respect to employees (dressed up as a professional firm, but in fact just a fake company pretending to be professional. Management don't treat employees with respect, they have the mindset that since they paid for your salaries, they can get to have you do whatever they command) - Incompetent colleagues (people pretending to do work in office; facetime culture; when actually called upon to do actual work, these people show their true competencies/ capabilities - which is none, hence work that is supposed to be easy and quick will get stretched over long periods of time to complete) - Hierarchical and Bureaucratic (Family run/ owned business with close inner circle of people to make decisions; rest of the so called "higher management" are all just indecisive people waiting for things to happen) - Many more... -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 2.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 682101 Open Things have been there for ages, there's no way to fix.
