Management of office - partners often out of the office with no communication, tax manager does not delegate, closed doors, lack of interest in mentoring lower level staff, lack of communication in general due to closed doors, rules which pertain to partners but no one else, no clear department structure or rules.

One of the partners should try to open themselves up more, and not just communicate via email with staff. Comes across as very unapproachable and rude at times, unwilling to help. Review notes would be quickly verbally given to you, but no ability to grow from the.
Communicate better with staff and attempt to resolve issues with staff prior to escalation, and to assess the level of severity of the issue in order to ascertain whether a partner should be included in the issue. Lack of ability to manage, and heavy relying on the partners to manage low level situations.
Consider attempting to get to know people who work for you, and
gain an understanding that they are the future of the industry and need mentoring, feedback and growth opportunities.
Work/Life balance is a subjective term that this firm uses, and they have an inconsistent view of the definition from the other accounting firms in the area. They operate under the "chain to your desk" method. If that chain is not tighter than theirs, you are in trouble!
