Richardson is filled with individuals that continue to keep the vision and mission of the organization at the forefront of what they do. The small business feel allows for employees to feel valued and part of the success of the company, while also allowing for continued personal growth. The organization still struggles with defining culture. For a SMB, there is a leftover culture of a seemingly "strict vertical hierarchy" which sometimes hinders collaboration and innovative exploration. Everyone get's along and encourages one another, but I think there are greater opportunities for cross-team collaboration and more robust think tanks with all positions. Another cultural nuance that feels slightly counterintuitive are some of the "old school" company practices that continue to linger. With a somewhat lower headcount than a large organization, individual efforts are highly visible. It's a good place for upward mobility if you're prepared to invest yourself in learning all the different parts of the business, NOT just your role. Not necessarily a "con", but important to know that every person makes a significant impact on whether or not the organization makes its goals each year. Our colleagues are supportive, helpful, and always willing to help problem solve. Even when they are busy, they always make time to help team members, especially during urgent situations. Richardson prides itself on teamwork, and we excel in that area. It’s fun to work at a place with so many intelligent people who really care about what they do and put in a lot of effort. I’ve been fortunate to have great managers over the years. They have all been supportive of the day-to-day in my roles, and in my development and growth. When I’ve expressed interest, they have always offered me new opportunities, challenges, and experiences. The managers I’ve had at Richardson lead by example, so they have always been easy to work for! Richardson has come a long way in recent years with the tools used by the teams—it has made different parts of various roles more streamlined, efficient, and effective. The work we do is challenging and rewarding, and the experience of working with clients in all industries across many geographies means we are always learning and experiencing new situations. We have great relationships with our clients, and it is rewarding to be able to play a role in that. It’s a great feeling to hear from clients that we exceeded expectations while working with them. Because Richardson is a smaller company, employees may need to be patient when they feel ready to make their next career move in the company. There isn’t always an open position to move into right away. But, there are numerous examples of people being promoted in their current department or taking on a new role in another department. When Richardson hears an employee is interested in making a move, they take it seriously and support it; employees just need to be patient during the process. Richardson’s business moves at a very fast pace, which is driven by the fast pace of its clients around the world. At times, it can feel like there is a lot on your plate that you need to keep up with, and project issues can sometimes come up by surprise.
