Great company, opportunity would have been amazing
|
I was hired as a Program Director for RAS. I went through all of the training and submitted all documentation required. The company failed to disclose that the programs had zero kids enrolled and after two months of preparing, we were all laid off. VERY disappointing!!

Expand, expand, expand mindset before anything else
|
Lots of talk and pressure around expansion with little talk about supporting existing programs and employees. Program was actually fun nd well-thought out, although budget for supplies and snacks was tight. Accountability for adults was not really there, that can be dangerous when working with children. Training was non-existent and the schedule was okay if you don’t mind early mornings and later evenings with a long break in-between. Money was clearly the priority (it’s an LLC after all), as any critical conversations were around too many hours being worked or enrollment not being high enough. Working breaks and holidays was tough, but they did put thought into recognition (potlucks, parties, prizes). Time and a half pay would’ve been more appropriate. Disorganized for sure- I quit when predatory behavior from another adult in the program wasn’t addressed by management as it should’ve been after many complaints and reports. Also the school clearly did not want RAS in the building- hostility from teachers, principals, even the janitor! As an external partner within the school building, anything that went wrong in was blamed on RAS.

Moving goalposts for bonuses, high turnover, long unpaid break, no holiday pay, camps were a mess, unwelcoming school environment

Fun job no hours
|
Hours are not guaranteed here. I was told 30 per week at first but ended up getting 6-8 each week. Pay is $13. They try to make a big amount of people share limited hours because they overhired. Low enrollment due to parents being at home. The kids are great and it's a fun job. They expect alot from curriculum instead of just letting the kids hang out.

It’s extremely poor management the director doesn’t care about anything but people the director clicks with. It’s like your back in high school if you fit in your good but if you don’t fit in They will try to get rid of you. Don’t work here there’s so many more better jobs than this.

Right At School is an amazing company to work for. We work closely with our school's community to provide a high quality program that is enrichment based. The Program Managers and Teachers share the same values about the quality of care children should receive. The organization is innovation driven and prides itself on keep up to date with the best strategies and practices in this field. We have a curriculum department that writes thematic units for us to implement in our programs. For those of us that have had to pay quite a bit of money for our own program supplies...this is a real incentive because Right At School pays for the curriculum supplies too!

not what i expected

● Work-life balance
I really liked the split shift during school. I was given priority over hours wanted during Covid-19 and summer camp. However, there was not much communication between staff and upper management, and support was lost.
● Job security and advancement
I was hired with the intent to grow and advance, but when advancement became available, I was never given the opportunity to apply.
● Overall
I exoected to grow and get support from management. In a year, I kost bothe my area managers, who I really felt supported me. They handled Covid-19 ok, but I vekieve the communication with staff should have been much better.
