Get to work with extremely talented and hard-working people. There is a very fun atmosphere in the office and people are always happy to hang out after work together. private:ripvanwafels https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1044901 Nov 14th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Rip van Wafels Marketing Manager Best worst job ever! - Work directly with COO and CEO who are good at sharing how all aspects of the business work - Founders really hit the pavement and are willing to do the work - The founders understood the value of design, and knew how to hire the right people to develop a cool brand - As other reviewers have mentioned, the founders are good at hiring an amazing team, so I got to work with awesome people who I'm still in touch with - So many ridiculous/unbelievable things happened while working at RvW that I have hilarious stories for life The founders haven't had a lot of work experience elsewhere - and although they are great at hustling, they fail at so many other aspects of running a successful business. Honestly, I don't even know where to start in listing the cons, so I'll just highlight a few: - Staff turnover was abysmal. I know of at least 4 members of staff who quit but were asked to stay on until they could be replaced (which they graciously agreed to) but were then "fired". It was the most bizarre work experience I've ever had. -The company culture could generally be summarized as 'trying too hard". It felt like nothing came naturally to the founders (probably because of lack of experience), so everything came from a book, was written on the wall - and robotically repeated but not truly realized - insane work hours were expected, which also contradicted the company motto of 'taking breaks' - Founders liked to micro-manage. Everything needed to be explained with a reason backed up with stats - which was really time-consuming when you already didn't have enough time to do everything put on your plate. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL -1.0 DISAPPROVE 3.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 1044901 Open I would've hired senior staff members years ago - and followed their lead. All of the positive reviews here are written by the founders or under the founders' directive, which is exceptionally gross. This place is a mess. They have hired some of the very best employees and run them into the ground. Expectations are sky high/unrealistic/unrelenting, and the egos here are other-worldly. Just look at what they've written about themselves in these reviews... Although they have found a lot of different ways to say "we will demand your time on evenings and weekends for little to no compensation." Every day I'm surprised they haven't folded yet, but they are very good at raising funding by lying and stretching truths. My mental health was dangerously low when I was working here.
