The company cares about their products and clients. We have yummy free lunches and good benefits for this industry. Work schedules can be long at busy times but anyone experienced in this business knows that is par for the course. You leave at 1:00-2:00pm after coming in @ 3:00 am-there are 30 catering orders in the system when you leave & when you get in the next morning there are 20-30 more. Owners don’t back up managers when they try to implement changes like a 48 hour limit on cake orders. They expect you to work 6 days a week, 7 if need be. The work experience at Rita's was amazing. All of my coworkers were extremely motivating and made me want to put in more effort. The management was also very friendly and were very professional. I was part time but during the holiday seasons working more than 40+ hours (which was fine). But because of PT position, I couldn't partake in any of the benefits (401k, healthcare etc). They will also confirm your preferred start time (5am-6am) and then once you're hired tell you that you need to be there by 3-4am instead. And once they even tried to make me stay home for 2 weeks without pay by calling me the day before I was scheduled to work. It's also a bit difficult to balance work/life because the schedule is so demanding and awkward. The owners are a brother and sister pair. The sister seemed to be very understanding to your face but the brother was just awful and creepy. If they had any problems with you, they wouldn't tell you directly/offer any constructive criticism, so you'd never know what the problem was so you can fix it. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many people quit during my year there. Higher ups as well as kitchen staff, simply because they were treated awfully by people in charge. The environment was fun sometimes. But mostly stressful when there is a span of weeks where everyday there are THOUSANDS (literally) of cookies, breakfast pastries, sandwiches, fruit platters etc that have to go out. And only sometimes would you have knowledge of these big orders beforehand. I also had to deal with being harassed and told different things than other employees working in the same area, for whatever reason. I would not reccomend working here. It’s monday through Friday 6am to 2:30pm and you have every Saturday and Sunday off at home. I work for $14 an hour just to set up a salad bar and cash people out. So simple! The managers/coworkers are literally so helpful and kind. Good working environment. Working at Rita's Catering was fun for me and it gave me good experience in working with food and serving large amounts of people. My duties were prep cook and cleaning. The hours were decent 6 to 2:30. However I stopped working there for a couple of reasons. I felt the atmosphere there was a bit stressful. I was doing thorough cleans constantly and the workload was increasing every month. I didn't feel this was fair and it did not reflect in my paycheck. My one job became two jobs. Corporate was constantly sending judgmental emails criticizing presentation of our food, when other places were doing less than stellar jobs of serving it. They were also becoming more and more strict with what is required to prep for the week My chef was nice at times, but sometimes he talked down to me. There was another employee whom I felt always had a bad attitude and had it out for me frankly.
