High turn over of staff leads to burn out of those of us who stay. The pay is not enough to live on. Daily work consists of sometimes uncomfortable, humiliating, or even of potentially dangerous situations, of which we are told is simply “part of the job”. However, teamwork is strongly emphasized in the office as well as with outside events. HR is always responsive, friendly. Management puts a focus on problem solving as opposed to blaming or shaming.

I love a majority of the people I work with, but it only takes one toxic person to spoil a good thing. The management is great, the clients are also great and friendly, and the job has moments of fast-paced and slow-paced demands.

Managment is poor. Unethical work environement. Minimal support and very limited work life balance.

For a mental health program this company cares very little about the mental health of it's own employees. They also hire individuals with a lot of mental health problems that trends to interfere and create a lot of interpersonal conflict among employees that are just trying to come to work and do their jobs without drama.

Poor Mid Level Management

When you hear about Riverbend you think it's a great place to work. But unfortunately this is not the case. Management spends more time gaslighting their employees, dealing with their own mental health issues (so many employees at Riverbend have personality disorders themselves) and caring only about the budget than about creating a positive, healthy work environment.

People make the difference.

If you've worked in community mental health for more than a minute, you know the squeeze that the healthcare system puts on agencies to make their benchmarks and maintain medicaid income, especially if they're non-profits with tight margins. This issue is bigger than one place, though that doesn't mean you can't recognize how it affects your particular working experience. Riverbend is no different, and the pressure is on clinicians to achieve and exceed productivity with little added incentive, which would be fine if it didn't feel like more than half the job is data entry and endless paperwork.
Over the years I got the impression that most people in the higher levels of leadership were out of touch with both the agency's employees and clients. My direct supervisors were some of the most supportive and knowledgeable people I ever had the privilege to work with, and they were still pummeled by the expectations and demands of the upper levels. If this supervisory culture remains steadfast, you may find Riverbend a good place to work. I stayed because of it, as well as my peers and fellow clinicians. And of course, the work. No one does this because they think it's going to be easy, so you better like the work.

Disgusting place to work, bottom line is money. Focus is primarily on budget and poor work life balance.

This is one of the worst work environments I have ever experience. I would not reccomend this to my worst enemy. For a mental health program they make their employees mental health a living nightmare

This is such a caring agency! The people who work here truly care about the people we provide services for, and each other! The team approach is amazing and shows teamwork in every sense of the word. Everyone can learn from each other and it shows - top down and bottom up! Supportive management, flexibility, great training and opportunity to really learn a ton of new things!
