Raises for staff below a Director level were 1 to 2 % but new staff hired made more than long term staff in the same position. When your role required payroll information, this was difficult to see. Senior Management brought in their former co workers and disregarded internal candidates. I don't recommend it now. Co-workers are great- not that you will have much time to interact with them. We are always being told to work faster, take more patients, etc. RRH chews managers up and spits them out- I have had 5 managers in 10 years- they last on average about 2 years. They want "yes" people in the managerial roles and so the poor nurse manager is basically just a mouthpiece. So don't expect any support from your manager. He or she is just trying to keep head above water. I also recently lost a week of vacation- that's right- I used to get 6 week a year and now with the revamping they just did, the most anyone can get is 5 weeks a year. Not sure why they decided to take benefits away when they are so short nurses. But hey, that's why I'm on this site looking for a new job! co- workers no breaks, lost vacation time. Do not feel the least bit appreciated by management. 0.0 0.0 1.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 Jan 30th, 2021 01:01PM Mar 20th, 2021 01:05PM Rochester General Hospital School of Medical Technology

Officers have no support from director and manager. False promises, they’ll lie to your face. No accountability. Officers PTO when they have none left. Always short staffed. If supervision doesn’t like you, they’ll try to fire you or harass you til you quit. Hospital administration doesn’t care of the security department and I’d highly suggest looking elsewhere. private:rochestergeneralhospitalschoolofmedicaltechnology https://www.indeed.com/cmp/rochester-general-hospital/reviews Sep 29th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Open Rochester General Hospital Registered Nurse Rochester, NY USA If you have good work ethic and attitude-welcome!! No place will ever be perfect. There will be problems no matter where you go. Work hard, do your job and go home. It's that simple. Be nice to your coworkers, be respectful and show competance in your job and you'll be just fine. MICU is the place to be if you enjoy critical care, continual learning and want decent coworkers. I respect the knowledge I'm surrounded by. Theres always a few complainers in any work setting, but ignore them and just do you! It's all about perspective. That being said I would not recommend med surg floors to anyone. Ever. Not enough support, too much work load and they sugar coat in orientation the types of patients and workload you'll be dealing with. Dont let them say otherwise. You are getting 8-9 patients a shift. I promise. 0.0 0.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 Jan 30th, 2021 01:01PM Mar 19th, 2021 08:00PM Rochester General Hospital School of Medical Technology

Work-life balance Horrible. No orientation, get thrown in and drown. Unsafe and depressing. Explore program is a lie. They hire a lot of new grads and they will choose which unit you work on. They tell you you get to pick a few units to try out and after choose one that you like. It’s a lie and a trap to “fix” short staffing because they force you to work on a short staffed unit. The management is horrible. Work environment extremely toxic. Beyond depressing and you get treated like a slave. Extremely dangerous, unsafe and toxic. 0.0 0.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 Jan 30th, 2021 01:01PM Mar 19th, 2021 08:01PM Rochester General Hospital School of Medical Technology
private:rochestergeneralhospitalschoolofmedicaltechnology https://www.indeed.com/cmp/rochester-general-hospital/reviews Sep 5th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Open Rochester General Hospital Physical Therapist Rochester, NY USA Acute Care; expect your appreciation to come from patients and families ~ NOT leadership. The good part of working @ RGH is that you are part of a large health system; not many other employers offer a pension once vested (five years) or have secure lots/parking garages to use that are on-campus (although you will pay to use the garage, $1/day). However, my greatest complaint is feeling unappreciated and underpaid. RGH is currently focused on a huge new addition to the campus, and space in the existing hospital comes at a premium. It's often a challenge to find a place to sit and eat your lunch or even just to take a break. The expectation is that you will "be creative, find what you need or be innovative to make it work". There is also slight abuse of salaried staff; the preference is to start early and work late without any complaint or push-back. Leadership will tell you that as a salaried employee, you need to "stay until the job is done". That doesn't happen in a hospital that is open to serve the public 24/7. Raises do not happen consistently nor are they commensurate with market based projections; you happily accept sub par pay until you are sick of it and leave. And compliments, appreciation for excellence will come from patients and/or their families. It doesn't come from leadership; they are there to highlight what you have done wrong and sometimes offer pizza for a seasonal celebration. Most of what I have described can be applied to any hospital environment. But there are other hospitals in the Rochester area with better pay and treatment of their employees, and that could be worth checking out before signing on with RGH. Invested in the pension after 5 years; secure parking areas on-campus. Pressure to work longer & harder, underpaid. Focus is on physicians, nurses, surgical depts, any support staff or non nursing professionals suffer. 0.0 0.0 3.0 3.0 2.0 3.0 2.0 1.0 Jan 30th, 2021 01:01PM Mar 19th, 2021 08:03PM Rochester General Hospital School of Medical Technology
