Amazing company full of wonderful people

Honestly, there are so many.
RC is also SO transparent about what’s going on/where the company is at. We had a quarterly meeting with the whole company to go over revenue, goals, new clients, etc. It made it super easy to understand where I stood in the company, and it really helped me understand how I contributed.
The teams (PPC and SEO) are both full of really nice people, so it’s easy to make friends and connections; I have friends from my time there that I still talk to. RC is big on hiring good culture fits, so you wind up working with some really emotionally intelligent, hilarious people (I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a work groupchat more). The managers are insanely knowledgeable, and it always seemed to me like they weren’t so much working a job as just doing what they love, which made it easy to get passionate about the work. I was also always blown away by how much the leadership team cared about building relationships with the rest of the team. They made a point to get to know us and learn about our lives; it’s not something I’ve experienced at other jobs, and I feel like it really speaks to how much they care. The managers and President/VP really care about listening to their employees—you just need to be brave enough to say what’s on your mind. Every time I brought up a concern, it was explored and discussed in a very solution-oriented way, which I appreciated.
To be honest, I’m not sure what the last review is talking about in terms of motivation. When I was at RC (I recently left to go to grad school full-time), everyone was insanely motivated and jazzed about the company’s goals. The employees are busy, but never too busy to lend a helping hand. I get really anxious about asking for help at work, but RC fostered a culture that made me feel completely 100% okay asking for support, and I got it each and every time I asked for it.
The unlimited PTO was freakin awesome. I worked at RC for 1.5 years, and took about 4 vacations during that time (two of them were for 2+ weeks), and never had an issue. My manager made it a point to tell us that taking mental health days are important and encouraged, which was so relieving, especially when dealing with the stress associated with the pandemic. To me, the unlimited PTO always communicated that they trusted me to get the work done without micromanaging my time. That’s not to say you can just take off whenever you want; Just that the culture around time off seemed really healthy and mature.
The education and support systems there are amazing, too. I only had about a year of SEO experience when I came to RC, and they really helped me grow and develop my skills in the areas I was passionate about. We scheduled trainings to discuss what I wasn’t confident in, and I got brought up-to-speed really quickly. My manager always took my strengths into account when assigning clients, and he worked with me to find work that challenged me without throwing me in the deep end.
Idk man, I could go on. I really loved my time there.

Honestly, I don’t have much in the way of cons. The work was stressful sometimes, but so is every job, especially when it’s client-facing. I always had support when I needed it.

You can get the opportunity to work with a diverse set of clients and you will have face time with the clients to meet your goals and objectives.

The teams that you work with are not motivated. Your coworkers don’t care about setting or meeting the goals of the company or for themselves. It’s usually because everyone is too busy with client work to think about anything else, but it really comes off as disinterested in work overall.
Management doesn’t care about work/life balance. Unlimited PTO sounds too good to be true because it is. You have to work overtime to make up for your time off. A lot of employees already work nights, weekends, and holidays even when they don’t take any time off. Managers are greatly at fault for working when they shouldn’t be which is why this problem has not been addressed. Managers also like to praise people for working when they are on vacation and they don’t encourage you to take any time off.
In addition, you won’t have time to participate in trainings or improve on your skills. You’ll have to do that outside of working hours.
Lastly, you will have coaching sessions each month that are mostly focused on anything negative about you and your work. That could be helpful information but it’s not a welcoming environment for improvements.

Be open to new ideas from employees. If you ask your employees what you can do better, really take that seriously and implement new ideas faster. Sometimes you made goals for the company but they are 12 months away, and often those goals were not met. If there is a problem and you see a solution then don’t wait on implementing it. I would recommend caring less about how your company is perceived in the market and try to care more about your employees that work for you. Your focus should be trying to improve the issues the company already faces before trying to grow more clients and employees.

-The meeting cadence is progressive and productive. Inter-company goals are constantly being set and accomplished.
-Selective about their clients; maximum 4 clients per analyst, so constant attention and focus can be given, no one is overworked and everything feels balanceed.

A Great Place For Growth

When I came to RC I thought I had enough knowledge in the PPC industry where I was confident jumping right in with clients.
After a couple weeks of training, I was wrong. RC takes the time to really educate new employees in the industry and ensure that you're up to speed on new technology and practices, which was a huge help and gain in confidence in the company.
Not only do they pride themselves in continued education in the industry, they really work to build a team that works and supports each other. There was not a time where I felt insecure about not knowing a particular topic because everyone was willing to help one another succeed.
I have gained friendships from RC that I still have today. This group of people are some of the most welcoming, caring, supportive people I've ever worked with.

The one and ONLY con I have for RC is the pay. But the relationships and company culture outweighs.

RC changed my life
|

I worked at Rocket Clicks for almost four years and I can say without hesitation that it changed my career (and ultimately my life) for the better. Here are just a few of the pros:
Learning/growth opportunity - Simply put, if you want to become an expert in either SEO or PPC, Rocket Clicks is the place to go. For example, I came in as an SEO copywriting intern and worked my way up to SEO manager in large part because I had a ton of help and guidance along the way (i.e. coaching program, conferences, training). Basically, the agency's specialization in search marketing, enthusiasm for doing good work, the proven expertise of leadership, and the collaborative atmosphere make it nearly impossible to not become really good at your job.
Good people - I made quite a few lifelong friends and mentors in my time at RC and that can be credited to leadership consistently bringing in the right people. Everyone is friendly and I guarantee you'll find someone with similar interests outside the office (e.g. If you dig music even a little bit, there's an - unofficial - Rocket Clicks top ten albums of the year party every year that all are welcome to attend).
Vision - Leadership invested heavily in establishing a vision and a path for the company (which didn't really exist when I first started). Some people may not care about it as much or take it for granted, but I really appreciated being a part of an organization that gave a darn (Glassdoor doesn't allow swears, ok?) about doing good work and making a difference in the client's business.
To sum it all up, if you're a fan of cool people and establishing a career in search marketing, it would be tough to beat RC.

I only have two cons, but to some they may be the most important factors: location and salary.
The office is located in an industrial park in Butler, WI. If you live in the city and don't like the idea of a 30 minute commute alongside some of the worst drivers in the state, then the location might be a deal breaker. That said, a lot of people don't seem to mind it (Kohl's corporate is just down the road) and I did it for almost four years.
I also found that salaries were not as competitive as I had hoped. However, this was offset in some ways by things like paid trips to top-notch conferences and strategically-timed visits to warm-weather clients in the winter.
On the plus side, leadership is not oblivious to these cons, so hopefully they find solutions in the near future.
