I spent 18 years there. I have never heard of a company that does not let you advance in your career until my last 2 years there. Management was a complete failure. No offers after asking for 2 years in a row for advancement. My answer was “no”. Total joke of a manager. Don’t waste your time.

This place was great...Eventually things went south. Management changed and it was not the same after that. Company is headed in the wrong direction.

Consistently busy during the spring/summer and slow in fall/winter. Delivering all day in the summer and tinting/matching all day. Deal with regulars.

Good place to work but they need to pay their employees more. Also hire help for the store fronts. Sales reps and management make all the money while the stores do all the work

Decent workplace with borderline poor management
|
I will say this: it's been almost 5 years since I've worked for Rodda Paint, but when I was there, nepotism ran absolutely rampant and management was consumed by it completely at nearly every level. It appears (as an outsider) to have gotten better as the last few years have gone by and the "rotten fruit" has been thrown out, but I can't attest to that for sure.

Fun environment and relaxed coworkers
|
I loved my job at rodda! Coworkers were easy to get along with, I had an awesome manager. It was easy to get days off as long as you requested them and they actually have their employees at fulltime not part time! Over all I give rodda 5 out of 5 stars.

Lots of corporate BS, little store support, and Maybe decent management
|
Rodda makes great products! Some of the best in the industry. They are a Portland based company that only serves the PNW and a few of it's neighbors, so their product is designed for those areas and works great in them!
That being said; thay are a small corporation with lots of company drama and turn over. They preach promotion from within, but constantly hire from outside. They keep people who should be fired, claiming that if everyone else around them steps up, they will too. Their training is a joke and only gets done if the manager cares enough to make it happen. They still use a DOS point-of-sales system. Stores can be left understaffed for months, or all year, and it takes immense effort to get corporate to help! (Lost of the people in corporate are wonderful, they are just stretched too thin for the company) Sometimes you will get zeroed on company product for no reason and with no explanation! They pay Absolutely Pitiful wages. They offer health care, but it's expensive and they don't really help with the cost. They do have a 401k match option. The stores are often outdated and in need of help in both set up, operations, and equipment.
The customers are wonderful (for the most part), and you have regulars. You can end up with great co-workers, if you're lucky you might even get a decent manager! The sales reps are mostly great and the people at corporate were wonderful and helpful (as long as you weren't rude to them).
All said and done, the company needs some work and to figure their stuff out. If you drink the kool-aid you'll be happy, but if you've got a brain and ambitions, it can be a great stepping stone, but it can also be very frustrating.

Great management and many things to learn but
|
I worked there with hopes to advance and my boss and coworkers were great but unfortunately I pulled my back and was in alot of pains from lifting heavy paint buckets that weighed 50lbs at a time, I had to leave abruptly and it was unfortunate. I highly recommend this job for someone with strong back and in good physical shape!
