Low stress environment. Very pleasant workplace. I would definitely recommend if you live in central or southern Queens as an easy commute makes the position even less stressful. The work isn't challenging, but it does require a certain amount of discipline, attention to detail, and situational awareness. Extremely collaborative workplace. St. John's University was a very fast pace work environment. I took staff development courses which help me with my work. Management also made sure we were up to date with all new procedures. My co-workers were all very supportive. The hardest part of my job was working 70 hour weeks. I enjoyed working with the students. It use to be right available right away, but now there is a waiting period of one year I believe. So if you have kids or would like to become college educated or further your education, it is an ideal place to work.They also offer very good dental and health benefits, as well as options for investment. The staff are great to work with and interaction with them were the best parts of my day. The relationships that were made in my time there are the best thing I take away from the job. However, there is very little room for growth and pay is not competitive. Depending on which building and which department you work in, it can be a pleasant experience. Administration can be very misguided, impractical with fruitless in their approach to day to day operations and treatment of staff.
