Overall amazing company with a few problems with people needing to learn how to treat others. A great open-door policy allows anyone to talk to any level manager in any department. They just need to learn how to follow through with the results of this.

I have worked at Salient for over several years in multiple roles. They sell an application suite that reads customer data into a proprietary database and provides an interface for the customer to see and interact with their own data in a very powerful and interactive way.
This software is very difficult to learn and much of the training material for it is very technically-thick and written in a factual, but hard to read manner. Due to this, it can take months to get your feet on the ground and in return, Salient really wants to retain its staff as much as possible. The staff hovers around 150 and the company has held firm at that level for quite some time.
There are monthly free catered lunches, annual family-friendly formal and informal events, and a the company has a paid shutdown from Christmas to after New Years. The owner checks in from time to time, getting to know the staff and he really has a passion for the product and the family of employees.
The hard part is your resume will be padded with proprietary software and that hurts your resume long-term in the marketplace, if you don't keep up with home study.
Every manager I've had did no growth training with subordinates and annual reviews tend to be a complete surprise of how they see your work. Most management is very firmly entrenched and technically knowledgeable but having no leadership skill, so growth opportunities tend to be renaming your title.
It's a good and stable place to work, but you need to be prepared to take the entirety of your development upon yourself.

Imagine the worst possible work environment and then double it. It could be a movie. Dog eat dog with a sales attitude for everyone regardless of job title. Poor qualifications for "leaders" so many individuals who have no idea how to lead or manage. Calling it a management company is an oxymoron.
