There is no sense of a team at Sankofa. Programs should be developed collaboratively, not top down. Encourage employees and the community to contribute ideas and initiatives rather than forcing the ideas of management in programs. Allow employees to be leaders rather than looking over their shoulders at every corner; learn to trust them. The turn over here is a bad sign, invest in employees you trust rather than just churning them out.

The pro side was working with youth who needed to have access to gardening and nutrition.

The executive director micro- managed. She made the work environment intimidating and they had lots of turn over. The work load was too large for a part time employee.
