The mission of the SEAL Future Fund (SFF) is to prepare transitioning Navy SEALs for a civilian life of purpose. The SFF is a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit organization that provides a comprehensive suite of free lifetime resources to prepare active duty and veteran SEALs for success in the civilian world.
The military’s most highly selected operator, The Navy SEAL personifies the qualities most crucial to success in the private sector: commitment, teamwork, resilience, problem-solving, motivation, selflessness and drive. However, the intense demands and focus required during a decade of war preclude the development of industry knowledge and relationships critical to their transition.
The SFF was founded in 2012 to empower SEALs to achieve success as civilians. By enabling each transitioning SEAL to discover his purpose outside of the military and through partnerships with industry elites and best in class programs, the SFF ensures that each transitioning SEAL becomes a force multiplier in the private sector.
The SFF provides four main services to assist SEALs with the transition from the Teams:
Goal Assessment
Perhaps the most important step in transition, each SEAL is matched with an SFF mentor who helps answer the question, “What do I want to do as a civlian?” The mentor and SEAL together formulate a mission plan for transition success.
Educational Assistance
The SFF assists SEALs in navigating academic opportunities including providing guidance on programs of study, networking at elite institutions, free entrance exam preparation, academic coaching and scholarships of up to $10,000 to help mitigate the high cost of a degree.
Professional Development
Career exploration through access to career coaches and mentors from the SFF Executive and Business Network to bridge the gap between the military and the private sector. SEALs are prepared for specific careers through coaching on specialized skill-sets, business vocabulary, customs and etiquette.
Career Building
Access to an extensive and expanding network of private sector executives. The SFF has relationships with leading civilian employers and actively educates leading private sector businesses on the value of hiring SEALs. The SFF also provides assistance to entrepreneurs who form businesses.
