Antiquated Processes--The software doesn't support the business needs. Instead of upgrading the software, there is a lot of 'blaming' for missing things the software programs should be catching. Checks and balances system is to run reporting at the end of the day to see what was missed. Then trigger an email to the person who made a data entry error. Horrible process. Leaves you feeling frustrated daily. Computer Equipment would constantly go down. Would take forever to sign in. Management Heavy--A lot of freshly educated college graduates filling the slots of managerial positions without any regard to seasoned experience. 0.0 3.0 5.0 5.0 3.0 5.0 2.0 24626 Open Fix the software. An investment of efficient software to clean up the process can only be a good move for the company. Updated, efficient software is much cheaper monetarily than dry runs and frustrated employees. Fresh new educated managers bring lots of energy and ideas. Temper it with some experienced managers to gain a good balance. I had an experience of my manager not speaking to me once I gave my notice until 30 minutes before my exit interview. Bad business there. 0.0 [] No No 1.0 Apr 18th, 2021 04:40PM Apr 18th, 2021 04:40PM Sea Star Line Industrials Industrial Transportation

Open office environment is new and no one likes it! Seem to be outsourcing some jobs. The freedom to do what needed to be done with a new start up company. Management was a little top heavy, however, they all understood the ocean shipping business. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 5.0 4.0 24626 Open Most of the senior managers are now gone. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 6.0 Apr 18th, 2021 04:40PM Apr 18th, 2021 04:40PM Sea Star Line Industrials Industrial Transportation
private:seastarline https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=24626 Mar 7th, 2013 12:00AM Open Open Sea Star Line Documentation Specialist Jacksonville, FL Great job if all you want is a paycheck. -Good benefits I enjoyed working here and left on my own terms. The people that work at the line level are great. I would do this job again after I retire and want something to get me out of the house. -Weird hours (ships don't stop moving) -Lack of mobility due to external issues (economy) Work is repetitive, mind numbing, and unchallenging. Not really a con but an observation - almost all managers and senior management were of WASP descent. Kind of odd for a company that is deeply integrated with Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 1.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 2.0 4.0 4.0 24626 Open 1.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 0.0 Apr 18th, 2021 04:40PM Apr 18th, 2021 04:40PM Sea Star Line Industrials Industrial Transportation
