Most costumers are hot and hungry and not very nice to the workers. I was stalked my first summer by one of my workers and the supervisors did try to help, he does not work there anymore thankfully. Sometimes they would have employee parties that were fun and you could enter a raffle using coupons they would give to employees who worked hard. The food department hardly ever gave them out but the lifeguards had tons. There was so much favoritism. Seven Peaks is a non stop job. You don't have much time to sit around and do nothing. You are constantly dealing with the public and answering to concerns and complaints. Sitting in an enclosed booth working with hardware, that didn't work more often than it did, was what you could expect from working there. At least air conditioning was available. From what I heard, it was worse elsewhere, but at least elsewhere could book you to work properly. The scheduling was unreliable at best, even if you were hired for full-time. Most, if not all part-time workers were let go. We were told to be deceitful towards guests on our pricing. Management was hired completely new, and from what I garnered, they weren't picky about who they hired. Much of the management team was comprised of people who had never run anything before, let alone handled a workforce of around 300. The ones who did know what they were doing were fired, or quit. That goes for the HR team as well. If you received a notice, such as a short till, front office management would not tell you. They would simply put it out on a counter, in full-view of the public, for you to pick up on your own. The culture at the workplace was rather unvaried, and often hostile. Toll attendants, a branch within the front office team, did not have a front office uniform shirt. When it was brought up to both a supervisor and a manager, workers in the front office scoffed and rolled their eyes as if I had asked something with an obvious answer, to name a scenario. Rolling into the next note as well: Supervisors were not hired as a separate entity, nor could you apply for it while working. They were the manager's chosen and favorite. The most enjoyable thing about the job, if you could count it, was dealing with the guests and the security team. It was a social job, with little to do, save for selling tickets and hoping your hardware would work, while chatting with the guests and answering their questions, cracking jokes, and helping to inform them of park prices and regulations. Of course, this is a double-sided coin. Our regulations involved bag checks, and we had a water-only, no outside food policy. The hardest was also dealing with the guests, more specifically, the difficult ones, but that comes with any retail and hospitality job. It didn't help that the new owner had never changed the still-active Seven Peaks website to show the new pricing, new times and new regulations, and management never bothered to tell us the new pricing, either. I was always respected as an employee, but the pay was terrible for the heavy backbreaking work we were doing. They paid minimum wage for a job that required CPR and lifeguard certification which they made you pay 250$ to get. Management has no idea what they are doing, do not listen to lower level management and often make poor decisions. They do not care about their employees and will fire lower level management for offering suggestions on how to improve the park. This was the funnest first job that I have ever had! For being an early high schooler and working here over the summer, I got to meet a lot of people that were my age & with whom I became best friends for years.
