The workplace culture in the shop is very focused on learning the how and why of what you are machining, and there are more opportunities to learn and grow than were available in the past. 'Gun Culture' is a significant presence here, which I believe is overall a good thing for most of the employees (you don't work for a suppressor manufacturer without having some interest in them). The workplace is also much more diverse than in the past and in other shops I have seen. The people are by far the best part of working here, everyone is kind and polite and friendly with each other. There is currently ample opportunities for overtime but no mandatory overtime, which is good but for a workaholic like me it can make work life balance difficult. Obviously, there are frequent repetitive tasks that are necessary for the job and the workflow can be very fast paced if you are not used to a manufacturing environment. Working four 10 hour days is really nice, you get the long weekend all the time. Being able to bring your dog to work is really nice. They try to do a lot of things to keep people happy, but ultimately it is about hiring people with little to no experience so they can pay them poorly. Salaried positions go to the family of upper management all the time. Being able to move up in this company is a pipe dream. If you just need a job then it is a great place to work. The people above anything else are why I work for this company. You will never find a group of people or company with this unique family feel. I have grown tremendously in my career over the last five years working here, given countless opportunities to learn and grow. SilencerCo offers very competitive benefits, expecially for their industry. They offer a full benefits package; medical, dental, vision, life insurance, etc. Plus you get to bring your dog to work which is pretty amazing! The industry has its ups and downs, but it's exciting to be a part of the growth and excitement that comes along with it. Best job I have ever had. I can actually say I look forward to coming to work every day. Dog friendly work place, amazing co-workers, exciting industry, growth opportunity. Pay is decent, but not the best. Work life balance is terrible. No time for you or family. Hard working job depending on what your doing. They have a boat load of machines in this shop ranging from lb2000, mills, triple turrets, six axis mills, tombstone mills, and much more. They have an r&d section with underground in house range. They even have a place to do idiodized paint jobs for weapons and cans. I was able to see a company come into a market, disrupt that market and then take over the market. It was amazing being a part of something that was so incredible. I put my head down was able to learn and grow. I worked and worked and worked. I put in a lot of hours cause I loved it but was never really compensated correctly for my time or energy. Wether it is specifically about your job or even sometimes if the building is even going to be open the next day, you will find out that nobody knows what is going on. Management at Silencerco is much like the blind leading the blind, everyone knows management doesnt know what they are doing. Instead of finding more qualified people to run the company they hire their friends and family. Any office or management position that becomes available is immediately given to friends and family of managers without even being posted internally. There is no chance of advancement at this company unless you are drinking buddies or family members of certain people in management.
