The management does not practise what it preaches. They abuse and exploit workers as much as they can for their own benefits. This created a very toxic environment for everyone involved in this company.
Majority of the business decisions are made on a whim and are dependand on the mood of the co-founders. You came to work praying you will not get shouted at, harrased or otherwise abused by the co-founder team. The whole executive branch is also complicit and turns a blind eye on all abuse so as not to deal with the co-founder team.
The management also mismanages funds with questionable expenses towards their private life and family purchases. Many of the purchases made by the co-founding team has put the company and staff wages in jeoperdy multiple times.
Anyone opposing the co-founder team did not stay long in the company and were let go (Or transitioned out of the company as they always told us).
Advice to the management would be to stop treating their staff like they are worth nothing, abusing them and exploiting their situation in life.

Good mission. Poor management.

Big ideas and many teammates drawn to a purposeful mission.

Poor senior management. Saw multiple layoffs due to trying to do everything and chase shiny new strategies on a weekly basis.

Trust the ones doing the most successful programs. Don’t just promote and keep the ones who have been there longest. Decide what your business model is and stick to it.

Bleeding out for years
|
|
A promising, progressive vision; great, passionate talent in faculty and certain staff; a global community hungry to impact the world
|
Inaction for years around the urgent need to update programs lead to a severely outdated message; a hyperpolitical management team opting for favoritism and spin over accountability and principles; a frenetic approach to management driven by putting out fires rather than leading with a product strategy

It's been clear to the entire organization who is responsible for its downward spiral. Either the current leadership is removed or the company remains the walking dead.

Bad
|
|
Semi-remote culture, exposure to cool tech, a few very good faculty
|
It says everything you need to know that after round and round of layoffs and mismanagement of the company, the first thing SU is putting on is an event about "The Future of Work".
This leadership team really tragically misunderstood its people, audience, and mission: working at SU is about succeeding in spite of them, not with their support. As an employee you can row that boat upstream all you want, but you're not going to get far.
They broke almost every promise they made (to anyone) while I worked there.
