The work hours were favorable 6am-2pm. Monthly employee appreciation meetings with free food was always good to have. Easy access to the freeways. Lousy pay. No real annual pay raises. Management there not very helpful. Especially one manager in particular that was extremely unapproachable and belittled RA's(Research Associates) whenever they would approach that person with any questions or computer/headset troubles. RA's were leaving left and right and were the call center was turning into a ghost town. Until last August when myself and 30-35 other RA's were laid off because upper management decided to outsource the call center opps to the Phillipines. If there was already a major layoff purge with one department, I believe eventually there were be more purges and the whole Irvine office will close down. I don't have any other Pros to mention because there were none when I was there. Management. SK&A Management is generally incompetent at managing people. Although I did not work in the call center, the call center management team generally considered the call center employees to be like children that they had to talk down to and bully around. I always felt bad for those employees. There were some very smart people working in the call center, but the smart ones got worked harder but got no pay increase. Management loved to promote from within, so there was no real outside professional management that came in to take the company to the next level. It was a sad place. The managers are lazy and don't manage. They make the staff do all the work and take-on the job roles of multiple people, while significantly under-paying them. It's the SK&A plague across the entire office. Everyone is over-worked and under-paid. Except for the managers themselves, of course. They don't come-in the office until 8:30am or 9am and leave at 4:30pm or 5pm, or just work from home. They read the newspaper and chit-chat with people while their staff does all the work. All the "cubicle" workers show-up at 7am and work non-stop, sometimes past the 8-hour workday. No room for advancement or increased pay. I've even asked my manager for outlined steps to help me advance or move up to the next level and was told there's nothing I can do. Everything I do is great. My manager even said that if he were me, he'd be looking for a new job that pays better because there's nothing he can do to help me. Don't ever expect a salary increase after you're hired. They'll hire you cheap and make sure to keep you there. Some have even had their pay cut recently with the IMS and HDS acquisitions. They took away over-time and bonus plans. There are also huge discrepancies among departments. Some people make $30k more per year, in the same department, doing the same job! And they're allowed to work from home, while others in the exact same department are required to drive to the office everyday. It's extremely unfair. I'd love to see the salaries of the men versus the women disclosed. I'd bet money that the men are making significantly more than the women. I think most of the staff were sticking around in hopes that the IMS acquisition would improve job pay, growth and advancement. Instead, it's worse! A few people have already left in the first two months of the year, and I'm sure many more will also be leaving soon. They all sit in their cushy, high-rise offices and collect their 6-figure paychecks while pawning all the work off onto the worker bees, who can barely pay their bills. IMS required the staff to complete a goals list and managers were to meet with their staff by the end of February to review. I submitted my goals 3-weeks early. I got a meeting request from my manager 3 weeks AFTER the deadline to discuss. He said he had other priorities. Of course everything else is a priority over your staff! Managers simply do NOT care about the employees. And it's clear to me that the company is only concerned with acquiring more companies and looking profitable to the stakeholders. There is never any talk about employee satisfaction, concerns, or HR communications. Laid back environment Decent benefits No micromanagement, barely any managing at all. Bad management Low compensation The company settles on the lowest common denominator. Hardly any support from other teams. Some managers make too many excuses to cover up for each other. I'm told someone is to busy to help me while I see their entire department out on break then come back only to talk about personal issues in her office. The only real pros of working here: Being able to start at 6am and getting off work at 1130am on Fridays. Where do I begin? No opportunity for growth. Unrealistic goals to make incentive. Got paid more when I first started working than right before I left. Management is extremely two faced. Other departments look down on research associates and have been heard trash talking in bathrooms and hallways. Things progressively got worse after Cegedim took over. And even more so when IMS purchased the company. Just recently 95% of the research center was let go without any notice.
