The management is horrible and when you try to go to people above management to address issues it is on a favoritism spectrum. It was impossible to get work done because all management did was nitpick and tell you how wrong you were if you did something different than how they did it. Most of the employees are rude and treat you bad if you are "beneath" them. They hire employees only to fire them a couple of months later. Most people I know that have worked here have said the same thing. When I left I was told, "Good for you for getting away from this place". That says something. Don't know if that's changed to be fair. The management for the TC department was inexperienced and power trip driven. Liked to micro manage the team and made it difficult to live up to they expectations. Each department was it's own different clique. A lot of favoritism. I wouldn't recommend working there. Only perk was the free lunch. They're essentially playing a magic trick on you. By providing you with free snacks/drinks, gimmicky motivational words on their walls and a ping pong table; they're hoping you don't realize the toxic culture and non-present owners who could care less about its employees. Instead of the owners running the company, they let their more tenured employees (AKA Friends) determine how the company should operate, what culture should be set and what employees should stay and go. I implore you to do your due diligence and see for yourself, but just know that their recruiters are trained to create a false façade of a start up company with an amazing culture that treats its employees well. When you're interviewed, you'll be given a tour of the office. On a wall, there's recognition for employees who have been with the company for 3 or more years. You'll notice it's a very small list for a company that's been around for 8-9 years. Management in some cases is something on the other hand that isn't. there is a click like mentality/favoritism that is evident in the very beginning stages. training is something that needs to be improved, company should focus more resources to making sure that new hires are given the full tools and appropriate time to succeed in their roles. in some cases there is almost a complete lack of transparency which results in mistakes. If a mistake is made in you are not a favorite this will sometimes result in being openly chastised and pressured which causes noticeable stress and leads to turnover. new hires feel like they cannot truly speak up for themselves or bring attention to any issues without feeling like it will result to depletion of job security. Overall work culture is good but it could be better if there were more balance in treatment of some employees. The catered lunches and drinks and snacks that are given weekly are a nice perks but the parking is horrible. Majority of the people that work there are creative and smart and genuinely nice people. It is evident that some managers are not fit to lead And that some employees should actually be in management. SkySlope is a great company with amazing potential that does great things for its industry. But with anything it could improve and that should start with management. Catered lunches. Free snacks and drinks. Wellness reimbursement. Parking stipend. Company events. Parking. Lack of transparency. Clique mentality. Favoritism. Poor training. They put in their due diligence when it comes to benefits and creating a dynamic environment for their employees. I think anyone there could agree that it was a fun, fast paced work environment. Every employee is personally recognized for their individual contributions to the company, and people are encouraged to collaborate. The company is mostly great. Its fun, fast paced, and everyone is there to do their best work. The only real con is that SkySlope could really stand to evaluate their main product -- while its "cutting edge," its also inherently broken and a potential liability. The product is the worst thing about the whole place, because when the site goes down or has problems, it immediately becomes everyone's problem, and it's go-time to fix, appease customers, etc. When that happens, the stress is ON. Also sometimes the company structure seemed to be a hot mess. There were times when people didn't know who their boss was, or even what department they worked in. Other than that, no real complaints. It has office drama like every other office, but it makes up for it with amazing perks. You can bet that you will LOVE your coworkers, because they were handpicked by other awesome people.
