private:smithai https://www.indeed.com/cmp/smith.ai/reviews Apr 11th, 2024 09:46PM Open Open Open Smith.ai Receptionist Remote Has such potential, but is essentially the same as any other workplace, even with it being WFH This company has such potential to be amazing, especially for those who need WFH accommodations, but honestly I’ve never been burnt out of a job so quickly. The amount of calls you take and how quickly you do them (a call is considered “long” when it’s past 6 minutes) is all they care about. All while following all of their billion little rules, while trying to not sound robotic, and it’s extremely unrealistic, ESPECIALLY with working in the legal field. Any time you have ANY sort of feed back, all they ever hit you with is “well, if you followed our CARES training, you should’ve been able to control the call better”. You have to focus on getting so much information under a 6 minute time frame, and when they ask questions, you have to say you’re an actual receptionist for the specific law firm you answered for (when you’re not) and then people get frustrated with you when you can’t answer or do BASIC receptionist work. The ONLY reason I’m giving it a 3 star is because of the managers there. They say not to let it these calls bother you but when it’s every other call and you’re taking 40+ calls a day, it’s extremely mentally exhausting. I have had the opportunity to work in multiple departments and I enjoy my job. If you have a growth mindset, the possibilities are endless. However, if you have a fixed mindset, you will not flourish. Adaptability has been a contributing factor toward my success. If you can check your ego at the door, respond to feedback positively, and be goal-driven, you will do well. But it's mentally exhausting for those who work full-time and take calls back-to-back, only to be met with criticism from their managers because of a mistake or falling short of a metric. Oftentimes, it's out of one's control and although management rest assures it's not counted, it often is. I used to be considered a stellar player in my first year and was given a raise based on my metrics; however, my second year, despite nothing changing, changed drastically as I was reprimanded for things I already knew/applied and denied a salary despite working as hard. I was also denied multiple times when applying to higher positions, despite never receiving feedback on why as promised by the recruiters. It's disheartening to say the least, giving me less motivation to work hard. I can't imagine how my fellow part-timers who aren't even qualified for a salary raise feel. Overall, it's an alright WFH if you're looking for something to do. Es complicado a veces ya que tomas llamadas para diferentes tipos de negocios de los cuales a veces no tienes conocimiento. I had an amazing time during my first year and a half here. They provided me with job flexibility and security. But I eventually made it onto someone's radar negatively and the witch-hunt began. Every single thing I did wrong was held against me unfairly. I was suddenly a star employee to one who was persecuted for every single thing I did wrong. I began suffering from mental health issues around August 2023, and they have not supported me. I also believe the manager you are assigned determines your experience. If they are someone you can relate to and have a good dynamic with, you will succeed. But suppose you are with someone who lacks sympathy and cannot understand different perspectives. In that case, you will be bored to death with repetitive policies, lack of support, and overall horrible treatment. As someone outspoken and passionate about work and improvement, when I began speaking up for myself and challenging how I was treated, I began noticing victimization and more pointing of fingers. Overall, consider yourself done if you get on anyone's 'bad side' here. They will do anything to get you to either quit or be fired. Hours can be very flexible. The job is mostly simple but can be a bit stressful as you almost never know what to expect when answering for such a wide range of businesses. Mostly calls are easy, although you will sometimes not feel confident, or get an angry caller. It can be mentally draining if you work a full time schedule. Training is decent. Even if you move to a different position or into leadership, you are employed through a temp service. So they can lay you off at any time without warning, and will not respond to any discrepancies afterward. But while you’re there and as long as you perform the job efficiently, they work with you. They give you time off, have great hours and culture. The shock was the unexpected lay off.
