If they aren’t heard, the company will continue to struggle. I’ve never seen such a distance between employees, mainly the photographers, and management. Working for Snap36 felt like High School all over again. There were issues with sexual abuse and hazardous work conditions dealing with raw meat in a facility that is not built for it. One word to describe management: neglectful. This is the highest paying photographer position I've ever had, we are compensated fairly for the amount of work we have to do. The CEO is genuinely interested in improving the work / life balance for all employees. He actually listens and enacts employees ideas to make the company better. Many companies I've worked for have the approach of "do it the way I've told you or I'll find someone who can", this is NOT Snap36's approach. They would rather spend more time training an employee to work correctly and more efficiently than hire another person. Everyone in the Chicago studio is very nice and welcoming. Management, directors and execs genuinely care about the employees and photographers! It's a collaborative team environment where trying new things is the norm, everyone is driven, and everyone is playing to win (and we do an awesome job of celebrating the wins). Everyone has each other's back and there's always someone to bounce ideas off of, from Jeff the CEO down to your manager, your colleagues, other departments, etc. Its the kind of sales environment where you have a lot of autonomy and independence but it's not like you're left to just sink or swim. Probably the main differentiators though is literally the day to day work. I noticed pretty shortly after joining Snap that we're leading the way in a growing space, and it's happening right now. There's never a shortage of new companies to target, and in under a year I've already seen new partnerships launch with Amazon and several other major retailers. It's not the kind of job where you just pull a long list of contacts and do telemarketing...the space is evolving quickly and as a result so does your day to day and week to week strategy. There's also an awesome marketing department that gives you new ammo to use on a very regular basis, and if you're in a sales role now then I'm sure you can appreciate how valuable that is. Beyond that there's a ton of room for personal growth, and Snap does a really good job of letting you write your own career story here, which I've experienced first hand in just a short time being there. This place treats contractors like employees and does not comply with federal and state laws in regards to differentiating contractors and employees. When you ask, you are immediately shut down. It's not right and it's not fair. You cannot choose who to hire as an employee or to keep as a contract simply because you want to. You treat a contractor as an employee, they are an employee. There is no room for growth here. If they like you, you'll succeed. If they don't, move on to the next job and don't waste your chances. private:snap36 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=857214 Feb 19th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open Snap36 Photography warehouse - Competitive pay - Lots of genuinely good people that make a difference across all levels of employment in the company. - You will work with some of the best gear in the industry, as well as the newest equipment in the field of 360 photography. - You will work with a wide variety of products and clients. - The company itself is growing rapidly and is trailblazing a unique approach to e-commerce photography. - There is a clear disconnect in the way that much of the office communicates with "production" i.e. the studio folks. From day one it was painfully obvious to me that there was an us v them mentality at work. This is not incidental and I believe is a major issue with the company as exemplified in another review on Glassdoor. - This isn't a creative photography job. You are mostly working on an assembly line of random product between various projects. They are not necessarily deceptive about this being the case, but it should be mentioned that you have zero artistic input in anything you're shooting and that they admittedly don’t gel with “Ansel Adams types” as they explicitly stated in my interview. This is not a problem for many but I found it difficult after the first week. - The studio managers are noticeably stretched thin and stressed out from the unreasonable load that higher ups push onto them which, in turn, can and will often make things extremely tense for photographers personally and in their collective work environments. - This is a young company with lots of room to grow, but for photographers there seems to be very little room for actual career advancement or opportunity within the company. - Directionally mismanaged and unorganized on almost every level of the production end, making it incredibly difficult for photographers to come into work knowing how to tackle their day efficiently. - Some higher ups will put stress on photographers for spending too much time photographing products properly rather than quickly. The CEO didn't know the name of one of my co workers who had been there for almost a year. She was an integral part of the company, and her desk was right across the hall from his.
