A phenomenal opportunity!
|
|
- I started at Solvvy at the beginning of this year and it's the perfect place for me.
The technology is rock solid- it solves a real-world problem, has obvious ROI, and we are continuously launching new features.
- CX is an important space, and there's a lot of money flowing into CX tech. Our platform is a "need to have" not a "nice to have." For our customers, we are seen as a strategic partner, and that is reflected in our retention goals.
- Leadership! I chose this job because of the technology, the role, and my boss. Now that I'm here, I have been learning a ton and working closely with her to help drive the business forward. I also REALLY enjoy working with our CEO Mahesh. He's human-centered and is a great thought partner - he also shows a lot of trust in the people he hires.
- The people. You get a good sense that some of your colleagues are the best in the world at what they do, and it's a great feeling.
|
- We are a fast-growing company and still defining and operationalizing processes.
- Like all startups, we move quick (and sometimes too quick!)
- Very few cons - I am incredibly happy and fulfilled

Not a con for me personally, but would caution that new employees should to be ready to roll up their sleeves and contribute in a variety of ways - we're growing and we move fast.

Rare Combination of Great Team + Great Product
|
|
AI and machine learning based products have a great market demand. Solvvy provides an AI and machine learning powered customer experience automation suite. They have been pioneers in this space. Their cofounders were PhD students of Tom Mitchell at Carnegie Mellon. Today the company hs had great early market success and growing quickly. Product is cutting edge and its customers include great brands such as HelloFresh, Showtime, Calm and Under Armour. But the team and people are the best part of the journey. Everyone is very smart and passionate about the company!
|
Growing pains as any fast growing startup. Too many things to do and not enough time or resources. Resourceful, entrepreneurial self-starters would thrive, but not for everyone.

Poor product direction, quarterly pivots which makes it hard for sales to gain momentum, helicopter CEO, below-market salaries, an underperforming sales team that was cut in half in march, from 11 to 5.

- Having an impact on the product and many smart minds willing to go the extra mile.
- Dynamic culture of change where problems are being addressed.
- Good feedback loop of managers and individual contributors.

Some teams would benefit from more diversity but the company is hiring more and more and being focused on finding the best people.

Growth Begets Opportunity
|
|
I've now been at Solvvy for a few months and I am really enjoying my time here. Just like any fast growing start-up things are always changing (to be expected) but IMO that change creates opportunities for me to take on new challenges / learn new skills.
In the last few months the company has added 3 members to it's senior management / executive team which I think has really helped solidify the growth plan and created well defined domain expertise.
I truly feel I personally and other members of the Solvvy family have the opportunity to grow our careers. The culture isn't one of "that's not your job" but more of a "if you want to try your hand at that...go ahead!". Any one who is proactive about their career growth is going to love it here.
|
The office could use a bit more character i.e. plants / decor but I am excited to see what the new office will look like.

Software Engineer
|
|
* There is an opportunity to be a leader in the space if everybody acts in good faith (especially top leadership), but I don't see that happening.
|
* Company is not making enough $$$ sadly :(
* No engineering leadership/expertise. There is Prof Tom Mitchell but he visits once a quarter and more like a Q&A session once a month, but other than him all the engineers are inexperienced and do not know how to handle things correctly(technically as well as leadership decisions).
* Pay is low. In general, company is very cheap even when it comes to minor things like snacks, accessories etc. CEO is very greedy IMO.
* There is no culture of openness. All the decisions are taken behind closed doors with no clear rationale.
* Promotions seem very arbitrary with no set goals/accomplishments.
If you are planning to join, please stay away, mainly due to point 1.
