private:somethingdigital-2 | https://www.indeed.com/cmp/something-digital/reviews | Dec 16th, 2018 12:00AM | Open | Open | Something Digital | Software Engineer | New York, NY | USA | Amazing culture and team; low compensation | If you're looking for a place to learn, this is it. The people that work at Something Digital are top notch. Management is incredibly smart and transparent. Lead developers are probably some of the most experienced developers in the industry. Quarterly events are AMAZING! They take you out for a night of fun and talk about the company financials / health over the past quarter. The company is fairly young, so everyone is pretty close and we'd often get drinks together after work. Also, SD is right in front of Bryant Park, so there's some pretty awesome places to eat around that part of town. However, this isn't a place where you work longer than 2 years if you're just starting out, especially if you're a software developer. The way the organization positions it's developers makes it feel like you're also a project manager and a customer support rep. SD would rather overwork their employees than make an attempt to hire new employees in the short term. This is a resource management problem, not necessarily them trying to take advantage of anyone. If you have a question about the project, the only one who knows the answer is the lead developer and they usually don't have time to answer. Work life balance, is not much of a balance. On average, you'll work 45+ hours a week and you'll maybe get a "thank you" from your manager. | Great people, amazing place to learn, world class team, free food, quarterly events | No work life balance, below average compensation | 4.0 | 0.0 | 3.0 | 1.0 | 5.0 | 5.0 | 1.0 | 4.0 | Jan 31st, 2021 07:32AM | Mar 19th, 2021 09:18PM | Something Digital | Food Producers | ||
