Toxic culture with incompetent leadership

Nice coworkers. Cool office. Work/life balance is ok.
|
Constant executive leadership changes. The most recent ones from 2021 and 2022 are completely incompetent, don't understand the community and care very little about the company and creators. They fuel an extremely toxic environment where they throw others under the bus and take zero accountability.
C-level are all "talkers with charisma and charm" but they have zero vision. The product leaders take credit for the strategic and visionary work that was done by amazing teams back in 2021, way before they even joined.
They all bring in their friends and write big checks for themselves while giving almost no opportunity to others for growth and career advancement.
Constant cultural and operational war between different offices and locations. No clear and open communication from teams which makes collaboration difficult. C-level knows but don't do anything about it and creates an even more divisive culture.

Just quit. Stop the fancy talk and be honest to yourselves. Understand that you are not cut out for this job.
Advice to the board - check the data presented to you thoroughly and advocate for a competent leadership to replace the current one.
Listen to the employees and nurture an environment where people can challenge you openly. There are also some managers that abuse their teams and people are afraid to speak up. Stop hiring your friends and look for diverse talent.

Been through the wringer – but there’s hope!

Work/life balance is very good. The pay is fair compared to comparable companies but I’d say the generous (read European) PTO makes it above average all in all. There are some very nice people here and there is some momentum again after some tough times. CEO seems like a genuinely nice guy and they have also brought in some smart people with experience from places like Spotify.
|
It’s a rather messy and unorganized company, especially when you consider how old it is (I’m not sure calling yourself a sixteen year old startup is a positive). There are some bitter people (probably a result of layoffs) that are probably better off moving onto a new adventure. I’ve heard rumors of “clashes” in upper management but haven’t really noticed myself (I’m trusted to do my thing).

The CEO has done a good job of managing expectations and concerns around the company being sold – but there is probably more to do here to calm people and make them focused long term. The creator product seems like a big opportunity so hoping they double down on that.
