private:sparkbase https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=788758 Jun 17th, 2014 12:00AM Open Open Sparkbase Looks good on Paper.... reality is another matter I was allowed to work from home a couple days a week. Free cereal! The 'product' is bloated as management is set on checking off boxes on a list of features rather than focusing on an MVP. There was a constant fixed scope and fixed deadline with no wiggle room. Very weak Operations team, they have no motivation and no direction. When your product is an API, having a sub-par operations team puts the whole endeavor at risk. There is so much opportunity to win if they would get their Ops team's heads out of the sand to leverage proper cloud-based infrastructure. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 2.0 4.0 2.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 788758 Open Hire a product manager with experience working in a startup and determining the MVP. Include those who actually build the product in conversations about deadlines and contractual commitments. Also, Senior Management, please engage with your workers regularly, get to know them and what makes them good at what they do. Don't wait for the problems to bubble up. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 0.0 Apr 22nd, 2021 04:14PM Apr 22nd, 2021 04:14PM SparkBase Financials General Financial
private:sparkbase https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=788758 Apr 21st, 2014 12:00AM Open Open Sparkbase Cleveland, OH Middle management issues 401k, full health and dental insurance; video game, pinball and arcade machines; computer hardware and software is kept up to date, cool office environment, great location that isn't directly downtown. Wages are below industry standards, project manager absolutely cannot maintain scope, efforts expected in exchange for wages are very unrealistic. The two week Agile sprints they've adopted seem mismanaged which leads to partially finished features that are hardly ever revisited. 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 2.0 3.0 4.0 788758 Open Work on vetting middle management better and try to eradicate the politics that are driving away your talent. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 4.0 Apr 22nd, 2021 04:14PM Apr 22nd, 2021 04:14PM SparkBase Financials General Financial
private:sparkbase https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=788758 Mar 20th, 2014 12:00AM Open Open Sparkbase Dissatisfied Full medical and dental insurance. Macs everywhere as the CEO is an Apple fanboy If you are expecting salary at par with the industry, Sparkbase is not for you. The management has one mantra- pay the least and extract the most from the employees. Everyone is overworked and the management doesn't seem to care or add more people to the workforce. Most people leave within a year. Two of their "key staff" left last year too. Very high turnover rate. There is little to no focus on HR training and relations. Senior management is conveniently unaware of the workplace dynamics and politics. The goal for this startup is - make your presence on the radar so a big player can buy the company. If you have another offer, take it. Sparkbase is only good for a limited time contract type gig. In case you do decide to take up their offer, be prepared for a month long, messy experience with the paperwork. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 1.0 2.0 3.0 2.0 2.0 3.0 2.0 788758 Open Where is the HR team? 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 0.0 Apr 22nd, 2021 04:14PM Apr 22nd, 2021 04:14PM SparkBase Financials General Financial
