Pay expectations are VERY low, they micromanage you when the company is not making good sales. Everyone seemingly was there for a very long time or not long at all, not much in-between. The people that have been at the company a very long time have learned to live with the way the company works and provide excuses saying "the company is not cheap" and so on, when a lot of the company's decisions are related to money. Managers may like you but it doesn't really have to do with how well you're doing as a job, more favoritism so you don't seemingly do anything wrong. The company provides health benefits which are not good at all, it's basically the type of insurance that if you have medical conditions it would bankrupt you, it's kind of just basic coverage with copay assistance, and out of all things, prescriptions are out of pocket but you get "reimbursed." The standard PTO package is 2 weeks PTO and you can "buy" an additional week by taking your wages out of your salary for the entire year to pay for it. Two weeks PTO is your sick days, vacation days, and personal days all rolled into one, and overall not one of their worst things. However, the company culture is very stressful and you will be micromanaged until you either break or perhaps don't care anymore. Your managers won't really offer any feedback to higher managers, they will just echo what's coming from up top. Managers can be very basic, giving you rundowns that 90% of your job supposedly is just showing up to work. If that was true, then basically it sounds like you can't really do anything wrong, which is untrue. Managers won't really show that they care for you at all, although each department is different. Information is like a commodity, apparently, even though you need information to do your job, and you will constantly have to ask management and get differing ideas on what to do for a certain issue depending on how far along the week is. Managers from different departments don't really talk to each other, but there are two different departments on the phone that people can press a button to go to either one, and there is no communication between these departments to coordinate. This often means a lot of "transfer-fests" going back and forth because the customer support department does very regimented things like checking stock and giving out RMAs for returns, yet if they need a product recommendation they will transfer them to tech support, yet if they have to check stock on that product they have to be transferred back. This means that they might know a product has been discontinued before it shows it on the website, and it's not really our position to tell them what is discontinued, yet they will get mad that we don't have that information. A manager told me about this situation that he wasn't going to contact the other department, and told me to tell them the product wasn't discontinued. Upper management has decided is we should be able to provide the upmost customer service that we possibly can, which usually is actually impossible due to said lack of information, and the managers having specific information on issues that you're not privy to. Also part of having good customer service is having incredibly low wait times of 10 minutes or less, which is honestly rather impossible because of the varying number of calls you get during the day. On a day that you get barely any calls the whole day, you get complimented for doing a great job, but then don't get complimented on a busy day because people might have had an average wait time of 15 minutes which they don't find acceptable. You'll see people leave the company from various departments, and at various salary ranges, but as I've read from other reviews about the company, these issues seem to be more the "company culture" than what they would say are faults. It's the way they have chosen to run the company, "family owned" having a lot of their family with really good (and no doubt well paying) positions, but not really caring about anyone else. There's no open door policy that you can talk to upper management, you are expected to just talk to your lower management who is really just echoing what upper management is saying but without knowing the reasoning. As what I figured from seeing these issues have been going on for years with poor management, there would have to be significant external forces forcing them to change, instead of them deciding to do it themselves at this point. You can work from home if you don't want to go to the office. Management is rude and acts like dictators. You are overworked and underpaid. Never ANY positive reinforcement. It really feels like they don’t care about their employees at all. Management freaks out on you and gives unrealistic expectations and then gets frustrated when you can’t meet them. Zero culture and you are encouraged not to socialize. Very very nit-picky and stingy. And even so..things are not run well. No one knows what's going on with anyone else because everything is basically run by one person who makes it unnecessarily difficult. To be so strict and ultimately serving no purpose doesn't make sense. Deadlines? At one minute it's the end of the day, at another minute its in one hour and then if it doesn't live up to expectations it can suddenly wait until tomorrow. Overall, it was an uncomfortable experience. There is not much culture as management doesn't encourage interaction or have any employee events or any team building events.
