Not a good place to work.
Most people that work there are great, unlimited vacation pay and good benefits. Trivia is fun!
Extremely un-diverse upper management team of middle-aged white men who seem very prone to nepotism . Everyone that works here is grossly underpaid except for upper management.

What a great place to work
Started about a year ago. This is a great place if you like to make puns and love being around people.
Accepting culture. You’ll always find someone to laugh with you.
They take care of their people. In these days, that is tough to find.
I wish it could be full-time.

Lots of opportunity here
Great company to work for especially if you need extra money as a side gig. Lots of opportunity to grow within the company as well. Many of the full time employees started off as hosts.
The company is relatively new so they are flexible and adaptable to change. New ideas are valued by management no matter what position you are in. They make you feel like a valued part of the team. You can really make a impact here.
The only con is most of the positions start as off as part time and you work your way up to full time. It's great when you are in school, otherwise you may have to work another job on the side until you are promoted.

Great part time gig with great management support
Regular shows bring regular crowds so you get to know the teams really well
You work the same schedule each week
Opportunities to fill in for other hosts are available to make some extra money
They provide almost all of the equipment, supplies, and support the hosts need
There is some prep work involved (creating music playlists, updating slide shows) so depending on how much time you spend doing that it could break down to a fairly low hourly pay (you do get paid flat rates though)
You have to bring your own laptop for venues that have powerpoint presentations
The speaker is very heavy if you need to bring it to your venue
Your money depends on how many people play so guerilla marketing is ideal

Supply business cards to leave at the venues and other local businesses to promote the shows. It's possible for hosts to buy them themselves but it's an added cost when the pay is not huge. Same with prizes/gifts/awards for tournament shows. Some hosts buy things themselves but some of us can't afford to do that or don't have time. It would be nice if those were given by management instead of the hosts footing the bill.

Few hours and a fun gig. They provide all the equipment except a laptop and all the question sets.
You can only work 1-4 shows a week. The venues are completely hit and miss and so is your pay. The metric for paying Trivia hosts is by player but only changes between 30-50 players per game. Below that doesn't matter and above that really doesn't matter. You get paid the same for 50 players or 125 players. Maximum $75/show. You are also responsible for transporting a large amount of equipment to and from venues and store it at home. You are also responsible for invoicing, tech troubleshooting, and placing shipping orders for more supplies. Opportunities for advancement are slim to none since most of the company doesn't work in the same states as their hosts. No compensation for travel or gas. Also trivia hosts are ineligible for any benefits whatsoever.

Great company for entertainers of all levels.
I'm a professional DJ who has been hosting trivia with Sporcle for well over a year. This is the best part-time job I've ever had and Sporcle is a fantastic company! They provide almost everything from equipment to stamps and has a great training program so almost anyone with a good attitude can learn how to host trivia. The best part is, the company listens to their hosts concerns and takes action to correct problems. There are also many opportunities to pick up extra shows throughout the month to earn even more cash. This is a very organized and fun company that is always improving.
Probably the only con is that you have to provide your own laptop computer to play music and for electronic scoring; however, it is NOT a requirement (but it does make the job much easier).

This is the best job I've ever had!
Jobs here encourage our employees to create relationships with the people who come to our shows. Shows last 2 and a half to 3 hours, depending on how long you stick around to chat with the people who come to your shows each week.We look for fun, entertaining, reliable folks who are ready to command the attention of the room.
You have to work nights, but at least it's the same night every week, and the length of your work night depends on how long you stick around to chat with people each night. If public speaking is not your thing, then this is definitely not the job for you.
