(People who can't keep up gets upset and think their manager is being rude) - If you prove to be an asset then you get paid way more than what others are getting paid. - WFH has been a norm at SK since March and it might continue even after the pandemic ends. - It's very logical that every company wants their employees to be an assett for the company and not a liability. If you have a lazy attitude towards work and not improving or innovating every past day, then SK is not a place for you. A lot of people get frustrated because of ever-changing goals (This has changed with pandemic though) - Less attention to team bonding sessions. Giving gifts for small achievements inside the teams help keep the overall morale of the team up and competitive at the same time. - With the company getting big HR team should be expanded. For me as a lifelong sports fan, that was half the battle won already. In addition to that, the company gives its employees a lot of freedom and room for creativity as well as growth. New ideas are encouraged, innovative solutions are given due recognition, and at the same time each employee is made a part of the overall business targets. In a way, almost every employee at Sportskeeda is like a manager. The people in the organization are pretty young and chilled out, as you'd expect at a place dedicated to sports content, so that's another plus. The office atmosphere was quite nice when it was running, but since the pandemic it's become work-from-home for the foreseeable future. That is not really a problem though, since communication channels are always well-maintained. We get like a billion hits on our API stack in a single day on seasonal peaks. The level of control even the junior-most techie has is frankly mind-boggling. Ideas are entertained, even the bad ones are mulled over to extract the good out of them. The senior folks in the team hear you out, helped you shape up your vision, and plan the entire project. I've worked in a company before this, and have heard about several others, but I've never enjoyed this level of freedom and meritocracy. I almost never work overtime, never work weekends and holidays. Our transition to remote work during lockdowns was seamless, which says a lot about the team culture. Your actions have to really add up. Merit wins. Power games, and personal touches don't work. And that is a turn-off for some folks who thrive on it. If you don't assume absolute ownership to begin with, and you somehow got in the team, you will pretty soon figure it out that you don't belong here.
