Job Security...NONE!
|
Great place for employment especially if your a geek, working mainly remotely so many reset, flash and reconfiguring of router connections, so no 'hands on' employment. Really, really enjoyed the opportunity to be apart of this company. BUT! THERE IS NO JOB SECURITY, IF THERE IS A DIP IN ORDERS OR EVEN REPAIRERS ITS VERY LIKELY THERE GOES YOUR JOB!

Fast paced and challenging work enviornment
|
Small, close-knit entrepreneurial company in the wireless networking industry. For hard workers who want to make a difference there is serious upward mobility. The majority of our leadership grew into the positions from entry level.
You are not a "number" here - all employees at all levels greatly contribute to the success of our small business. If you are looking for a challenging work environment where your contribution matters - this is a good fit. If you enjoy a large, corporate environment where everyday is the same - this probably isn't for you.

Everyone here works hard together to create a strong and friendly work environment. Every day I learn something new and they have been very flexible with my National Guard schedule.

I currently work here at SON but for how long who knows
The turnover is high and after a meeting today I am on the firing line I am not to take orders from some minion who I used to manager before she up and vanished
The owners daughter will be I repeat will be the demise to this organization
Management is fake and frankly will do anything just to make payroll

A typical day at work was answering phone calls from customers having issues with the WiFi service. I was able to learn more about network typologies and how they are applied to different businesses. The management was OK , there was a high turn over rate for my managers at the time. The workplace culture was very diverse and family friendly/oriented. Hardest part of the job was dealing with a LOT of "butt-hurt" and whining from other co-workers who were not happy with the company. Which could damper your day if you were not in the right mindset. Most enjoyable part of the job was when I was able to leave the call center and travel to clients and work with more advanced technicians on site. Overall it was a good experience. In the end of my employment there was a company lay-off and I was included in that but still I somewhat enjoyed my experience.

Walk In Every Day- Get a little more depressed
|
The company drives the standard individual with no Mental Health related issues into a pit of deep depression.
This used to be somewhat acceptable as they previously funded the health care deductible, however now this newly acquired mental health issue is costing me a fortune due to additional cutbacks.

Company is Violating Labor Laws- Should be reported to the state
|
The purpose of this review is to bring to light the terrible working conditions within Spot On Networks LLC
Company is continuously asking team members to engage in extended working hours without compensation. Their under-qualified operations director had no knowledge of the legality regarding making low level employees work more than 50 hours a week without compensation.
Approached the subject with the "Director of HR" / Part Time Soccer mom and was basically assured things would be rectified.
Recently moved us to a new office which has no running water- seems to be another violation. However, the no running water and poor working conditions is a minuscule problem in the big picture.
New director recently hired makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. Brags about the use of the cameras in the office for "Viewing Pleasure"
The only good thing about this company is that you collect a paycheck, but by the looks and sound of Sr. Management that will not be the case for long. The company has the stench of money problems that can be detected from boarding New York City. I am s

Forced overtime without pay.
|
One of the most toxic work environments.
Management seeks every angle to take advantage of the lower level workers. The level of trust on both sides of the spectrum is near zero. Director of HR stretches the truth beyond belief.
Forced weekend overtime without pay is possibly illegal and most certainly unfair. Upper management works part time hours, frequently leaving early or working “remote” multiple days a week. Others are expected to work a 50+ hour week without any additional compensation.
Do not work here if you value stability and human decency.

Terrible Organization
|
The company is unfortunately a terrible place to work. The owner and CEO is an intelligent man who has lost site of the true meaning of entrepreneurship.
A few things to note after leaving the company.
1. The technical experience you gain while working at this networking company is insufficient to obtain any other networking job. On almost all interviews common questions could not be answered due to the fact the networks which Spot On networks run follow no format or standardization.
2. The Turn over is unreal, in fact they turn over so many peopleI was told during my short time there that since other individuals started 3/4 years ago they had over 200% turn over (numbers wise). They continuously dismiss good talent while retaining inept paper-pushers who pose no threat to the Gustappo daughters eventually succession to the run the business.
3. The peers are the best thing about the job, although some departments are inept and unable to do anything but waste you're time with emails. Others within the organization are truly awesome people. Sharing a community bond in their hate for the absentee SR. Management and newly appointed dictator (the daughter of the founder and CEO). 2 of the 4 highest paid employees within the organization show their faces in the office 2-3 days a week, and when they do it is for an abbreviated period (example:10-3). This clearly has a direct translation on how well the company functions. It drives moral down amongst lower level employees who want to work hard to be successful.
4. The company has constant money struggles which results in them doing several things. The first is price gouging their customers according to how things are operating financially. Depending on whether or not the company can make payroll drastically alters the price given to a customer. The second, they make sales for which the money coming in is allocated to operational expenses rather than funding the equipment. This results in delayed installation schedules and constant lying to customers about timelines for completion. The entire money situation within the organization is boarderline stealing/scamming. Unfortunately they have a mysterious investor who has sunk a large sum of $ into the organization over the previous years.
Overall the company gets a 1/10 rating on my evaluation. The single star is for the location. The restaurants around the office are superior. No need to bring lunch, since it is surrounded by amazing food in the city of New Haven. Once you survive the gaunlet of MethSeeking Crackheads outside the front windows, there is a cornucopia of great food to explore.
Although I only had the luxury of working there 6 months before they terminated me it was obvious I would be better somewhere else. The ideas of the organization are good, but the leadership sucks. They are internally delusional that they are growing and getting things on track, however continuously poor leadership decisions and appointments of under qualified individuals will only set them back.
