The software team runs like a dream, no babysitting, no emergency overtime etc... Scrum process is adhered to very well. Make great products that protect our clients, 2. help employees reach their career goals, and 3. Make a profit so that we can accomplish 1 and 2. -Not really a "con", but you are expected to work hard when you are at work. I wouldn't mind a lazy day from time to time like everyone else would too, but from the top to the bottom, everyone works hard and everyone must do daily accounting of what you did and what you plan to do tomorrow. If you want to be something in this company and you want to wear a certain hat. You can! Just show up and be willing to own your work. - Advice is received and implemented from the CEO direct! I complained about the carpet, three weeks later we had new floors. -CEO listens to reason, he will not only take into account what you say, but will sit down with you try to solve a problem. - You are able to develop the most cutting edge surveillance tech on the market and get time and experience with a great, rising, company. - We have had a raise in pay every year I have been here. Good work pays off. - Great people to work with, everyone except for that 5% (snowflakes) few that screw it up for everyone else. AKA the haters posting hate reviews. - I like that this company isn't made for everyone. If you like to work, and have a meaningful career that helps the following operators: First responders, security guards, cops, military, you know, all the good guys. Then this is the place for you. - The owners are good with money, people may complain about not getting the newest chair, or all the creature comforts they want, but I would much rather be getting pay raises every year. Did I mention that my pay has increased every year? - No one is trying to make a quick buck. This business has been around for 10 years. I am personally involved with projects that are just closing after two years of painstaking process and development. - We are invested in solving problems and helping the operator a.k.a. grunt, a.k.a. cop, a.k.a good guys. - It is the goal of any CEO and President to have a meaningful product and not to waste your time and talent. If you are afraid of working hard and having meaningful work, believe me you are not going to fit in to the SpotterRF culture. - I have been with companies that will promise the world and provide very little in benefit. From the top down, this company will not lie or cheat you, but if you are weak and are hurt by honesty you might be better off writing code for a feel good blog spot or some other tech that may give you good advice on how to make a good fondue. We are in the business of saving lives people, no time to make yourself the center of attention. - To combat the micromanagement comments below, it is true they ask that you show a plan at the start of every day, and show that you complete that plan. I took it as, hey they actually care that I am planning my day and completing objectives to help me be successful, man I just can't take it anymore. Get real, they simply want to see you have an objective and if you don't meet it, they are cool with it, unless you are being grossly negligent about it. - You will have the opportunity to see what kind of impact you have in the world. We always have company meeting to praise the hard work, they are always catered and the CEO and president let you know where we are at as a company. - There was a meeting that took place after some employees got complacent and were not performing the way we needed. They were told, "Hey guys, we are not going to do this like a regular business and fire you all, we are going to tell you what we expect and if you do not like it, there is the door". The CEO was being honest, and to tell the truth a lot of people left and found something else. The people posting negative reviews were very hurt that they did not get a trophy for under-achieving and were told they mattered, but were expected to a standard. Of all of these reviews, how many claim that they were fired for not producing? How many are saying they were driven out or got sick of "the culture"? I will bet the ratio will be 100 to 0. It is because the CEO and president care about you as part of the SpotterRF family, and although they are tough, they are extremely fair. - If you are sensitive and do not like to work, you will work hard here. Beware all snowflakes of the world. - If you want a high tech environment with all the responsibility of a toddler beware. Meaning you will have a responsibility to know and do your job well. If you can't do something, it will be done by someone else, because of what is at stake if something does not work. - If you are intimidated by smart people and feel threatened by them beware. We have some of the brightest and best. The management is no exception. - If you buckle under the slightest pressure to meet deadlines and provide no good explanation why you did not meet it. I complain as much as the next person sometimes, but no one can deny the passion you have nor your integrity. Keep being completely transparent and honest with your employees. It is very hard to find honesty these days, because most people (like the people slandering this great company) will not say it to your face and try to help you or the company. The other people you suffer with are usually great. Everyone employee I know who has worked there or still works there is dissatisfied with their job and work environment. The President (who is married to the CEO) is only President because she’s married to the CEO. She will come in once or twice a week, surf Facebook, then make all of the business decisions for the company. She is really inept and should’ve been replaced ages ago but she’s there to justify their family receiving two salaries at the end of the day. The CEO is generally decent but he will side with his President wife on every issue and seems unwilling to disagree with her. Want any kind of standard office amenity like a table lamp or a trash can by your desk? You better bring it yourself because there’s no way the President and CEO will allow that expense when they have to use the money to travel the world on the company’s dime. They’ll also lecture you and fire you if you even think about bringing up the fact that the employees are quickly worn down from a toxic work environment. The President and CEO are doubling down on their horrible management style and will extract as much wealth from SpotterRF while treating their employees like a worthless cog in a machine. The recent string of positive reviews is probably a campaign from the company trying to keep their score up. It’s pretty sad. Everyone I know who still works there hates their job. I would be a professional poop scooper before I ever worked at SpotterRF again. Middle management should care less about their status with the focus CEO and President and spend more time standing up for their employees and themselves.
