Be ready to be belittled by the company owner, watch the owner belittle other people, and have unreasonable expectations be put on your shoulders for minimal pay. High turnover.

Spray-Tech utilizes modern machinery and software and has a few employees that are top-notch. The owner has a sharp mind with a knack for marketing and engineering, and isn't afraid to incorporate new technologies and methods. The factory is covered with solar panels and goes to great lengths to be 'clean and green'. The company fearlessly pursues ambitious project in terms of complexity or scale. In an industry that is gradually shrinking, Spray-Tech looks to new markets to stay viable.

Despite the good qualities mentioned above, Spray Tech is held back by a key player that has the owner's ear and poisons the well with nepotism, cronyism, racism, and prison culture. Without abject groveling or a relation to this person, no low- or middle-level employee will ever make a fair wage or expect advancement, regardless of the department they're in. Training is almost non-existent, and poor performance is a common reason for dismissal. Quality of the product and pride in the work suffers as a result. If a potential employee can tolerate or thrive in such a culture, then they will be happy here. Mavericks, innovators, those with integrity and expecting a prevailing wage need not apply. Many talented and loyal employees have been let go for dubious reasons. Such a shame for a company that has so much potential and could a shining example of American manufacturing in the 21st century.

A company is like the human body and needs to be healthy and disease free in order to survive. A cancer can't be allowed to remain in the body, and denial is not treatment. A marathon runner who smokes can't blame their shoes for poor performance and loss of status. Treat your people well and don't take unethical advantage of them. Get to know your employees personally, don't rely on hearsay and rumors to determine their pay and permanence. Reward the people who look you in the eye, speak honestly, and respect you; they will always do right by you. Those who look away, pay lip service, and respond only to fear will betray you when you turn your back.
