I really loved working at Square Enix. I learned so much so fast and it really felt like I got to know everyone and genuinely had a lot of fun while I was at work. The friends I made were the best part.

Workplace as a contractor has benefits but not much advancement
|
Within the company, if you do well, you maintain some sort of job security for the year that you are contracted. However, with being hired onto full staff or keeping that job secured or advancing, there is not many chances to do so.

Horrible floor leads
|
It’s a shame how a billion dollar company has no clue on how to choose floor leads. I guess it’s an old classic saying of you get what your pay for. The pay is low and the environment is toxic. The pay is so bad the floor leads have to park on the street since they can’t afford to pay for parking. If you have a family that you need to support look elsewhere. This job is suited for someone who lives at home with their parents.

The typical work day is moderately regimented, breaks are scheduled, and there is a window of time when it is acceptable to take your lunch.
This work space is a great place to learn and grow as a video game industry beginner. It is overall very accepting and provides many opportunities to learn and grow. The hardest part of the job is most certainly "crunch time" which is an inevitability for most projects in my experience, this usually means overtime however which is where you will make money as a tester. Otherwise, the contract period creates a struggle for the average contractor at Square. A contract can extend for a maximum of 9 months. which can cause a 1 - 3 month gap in the working year The most enjoyable part of the job however, aside from working on video games, is the people and the teams you will be a part of. Everyone at square is super friendly and welcoming and make the workday much easier.

Good starter job, but not a lot of room for advancement.

I learned a lot about dealing with people and time management during my employment at Square Enix. The pay is not the best and there can be a lot of mandatory overtime, but some of the benefits were good.
