The people in the front, middle and back office are all very bright, and for the most part were very easy to work with. I found Standish to be very collegial which is a pleasant surprise given most firms in its industry can be very cut throat I did not particularly enjoy living and working in Boston. It's very expensive and the weather not so great. Also Standish is owned by a bank so compensation is not always in the top tier. The office environment was really difficult for me. No one ever talked which made the days extremely long (and boring when it wasn't quarter end). It didn't seem like anyone was friends. The people are this companies greatest asset. Very few egos here. Work life balance is decent. Open door policy all around. Outdated technology in certain areas of the company. Also, work/life balance is the best I've seen at a finance firm. Being a subsidiary of a bank, the firm often cuts corners on spending in several areas, which in the end create unnecessary hassles for the investment teams.
