Friendly coworkers. Catered lunch every Friday (not during pandemic). Fun events outside of work. Relatively stable product. Appreciative customers. Free health insurance to US based employees. Extremely complicated software that requires years to get up to speed on. Relatively low pay given the complexity of the software and skills necessary to be successful. High turnover of user base leading to a constant need to re-train customers. Inadequate staffing and shrinking teams. The free health insurance to US based employees has a high deductible, high co pays, and is prohibitively expensive to add my children to. Very few opportunities for career advancement and a higher salary. Expectation from executive and management teams to take care of customers to keep them happy at almost any cost, but does not take this into consideration when creating goals. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 2.0 4.0 4.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 385740 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 0.0 Apr 23rd, 2021 06:53PM Apr 23rd, 2021 06:53PM StarRez

private:starrez https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=385740 Dec 18th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open StarRez Product Manager Melbourne An amazing team and company that's at the beginning of a new and exciting chapter. The team: Imagine if you rounded up all the mad-scientist misfits who care WAY TOO MUCH about their customers and their craft (whatever that happens to be), and put them all in a company together. That's StarRez. Culture: It is a very politics-free culture, everyone genuinely cares about what they do and always prioritises what's going to be best for the customers. Everyone's a bit rough around the edges, in the best possible way. This is a company where you feel totally comfortable just walking into the CTO's office to bounce crazy ideas off her. A lot of this culture I'm sure comes from the owners/founders who are incredibly 'real' people and see the company as their lives work, not just a vehicle for making money. Permission to be different: If you're not a bit crazy, you won't fit in at StarRez. This is a place where every idea is listened to and judged on its ability to solve a problem, not the seniority of who made it or its ability to 'play it safe'. Ownership: StarRez is a small company with a big product and bigger goals. You will get a terrifying level of ownership here if you want it. You will be trusted to do awesome things, you will have massive levels of autonomy, and you will be supported to do things differently. Best of all, you will be supported when some of these things inevitably don't work. The people at StarRez understand that sometimes, things just go wrong. If you're not failing a little bit of the time, you're not trying to innovate. Tech Age: The tech is aging and a pretty substantial refactor of the product is required. Luckily we have a very experienced CTO and she is helping the teams navigate the process of modernising the product in a sustainable way. Some hangovers from a lack of consistent product direction in the past: The product has evolved quite organically over the last 20 years, and this has been a key part of the business's success as it's responded very well to customers requests. However, this has resulted in a product that has a few too many faces, not all of which are consistent. This is rapidly being improved though. Even over the last 12 months, there is a dramatically noticeable change and improvement in top-to-bottom strategic alignment being heavily driven by senior leadership. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 385740 Open Keep going on the current track. Keep committing to the long-term goals and making the tough decisions that need to be made through this exciting transition process. Make sure the company keeps its human side and remains a place for people who are a bit crazy, but exceptional. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Apr 23rd, 2021 06:53PM Apr 23rd, 2021 06:53PM StarRez

Free lunch on fridays. Communication between teams and management is terrible. Super steep learning curve on the software, and almost no pay-rises after first couple of years. Unrealistic deadlines. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 4.0 3.0 385740 Open Set realistic goals for the company, do away with hard deadlines completely if you can. Sacrifice events to pay people more if you have to, a lot of people I spoke to were not happy with their salary. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 9.0 Apr 23rd, 2021 06:53PM Apr 23rd, 2021 06:53PM StarRez

There is little room for career growth. It doesn't feel like the higher ups have much of a vision for the future of StarRez. private:starrez https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=385740 Jul 22nd, 2018 12:00AM Open Open StarRez Support Team Lead Melbourne World class support team Support has traditionally been regarded as the 'dead end' of someone's career. Not so for StarRez. This organisation has a world class support team, that also doubles up as a platform for springboarding into other departments and careers. As one of the leaders in Support, I can personally vouch for, and have seen many team members excel, and move on to successful careers in other departments. The support team is like a second family to many team members. There is a very nurturing and encouraging culture that promotes learning. The friendly and conducive environment makes it extremely easy for a new starter to be welcomed into the fold. There are lots of challenges and opportunities, and you will never be bored in a role here. As long as you show initiative, there is huge room for career growth. Nothing to comment here. This is a very family friendly company, and you will feel the care and concern for the individual from the leaders on a personal level. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 385740 Open Embrace change. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 9.0 Apr 23rd, 2021 06:53PM Apr 23rd, 2021 06:53PM StarRez

The culture is great and the teams are full of fun and awesome people. Hard work and team work is always appreciated. There has been a big shift in the way things are ran and the way the software is used. The training is not very extensive. However, the teams all help each other. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 4.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 3.0 5.0 385740 Open The only advise that I have to give is to keep up the great work! They could be a great company if they were more aware of what their employees need to succeed. Owners and management are disconnected and everyone is afraid to tell them.
