Okay benefits, exciting assignments, lots of great memories and opportunities to meet leaders in the public.

Horrible pay. Need a BA and get paid worse than teachers. Political environment. Diversity is huge (sort of) and if you are a woman or minority, you don't have to work as hard as the white males to get a promotion. Newsroom leans hard left, and if you aren't, you will be uncomfortable, and better remain quiet. Reporters get promoted to leadership in the company, not photographers. As subscriptions decline, so does the staff. Skeleton staff currently. If a natural disaster hits, you head to it, not away from it. If a riot hits, you have to go cover it, whenever and where ever. Photographing death is a part of the job. Expect it.

Laid off all their editorial staff. Try to make the business model about journalism, when there is no one left and their content is all AP Wire. They are going through a "digital transformation", yet are dumping money into silly things like their audience and who might actually still be reading(and gasp! subscribing!)

You let so many people go that could have brought new ideas to the table. Same old traditional approach to everything. New people brought in are all "yes" people.
