private:staterbros https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=2992 Mar 30th, 2024 12:00AM Open Open Stater Bros. Keycarrier A job to get to another job Flexible scheduling Work with school schedule, usually Weekly pay Union Difficult to be fired Health insurance Flexible hours Good distribution center Many career paths Scholarships Free management training and certificates Discounted schooling at local College Paid jury duty leave Must start part time. Uniforms are only partially provided. You get one set then one more set per year and must pay for any extra sets. Must stand to check. No set schedule makes for volatile hours and hampers life planning Under preforming employees are hard to fire and thus eat hours and cause scheduling issues by showing up late, leaving early, or calling off which exacerbate issues and strain for other employees. Must start at the base, curtesy clerk position, no matter how much experience or training you have and must promote from there. Due to frequent call-offs and low hours, you are often called in and thus are almost treated like on call labor. Supervision and management working relationship incentivizes and facilitates the cover up of any issues that may arise at the store level lest it impact the opportunities to move up which causes strain and stress to fall upon the base staff to cover and hide said issues to maintain a semblance of perfection that does not exist. Weak union due to uninvested work force. The union lacks any bargain power as the company simply adopts what large companies get for their union contracts and due to waning perks like triple time or Sunday over time pay, no one pursues a long term career in the store and thus no one invests them selves in the union to bargain for better perks. Due to a new initiative, the company is focusing on customer service, Expecting excellent customer service and positivity like places such as In and Out or Chick-fil-A without the benefits that make the company more desirable to work for than its competitors. Management is incentivized to cut hours and understaff when possible with yearly bonus which can cause certain work places to suffer understaffing due to the type of manager they have. Raise are awarded upon "milestones" Requiring 500 hours worked to reach next step. There no opportunity for a raise based upon ability, cross training, work ethic, ect. Certain work practices such as the CSR program are great in theory but are implemented to rigidly which causes them to be a detriment at times to the work flow of the company and adds strain to the team to maintain a program that is not flexible enough to be tenable. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 3.0 1.0 2.0 4.0 2.0 2.0 3.0 2992 Open If the focus is to become Customer Service oriented with a flexible staff that is invested in the customer. Then the Employee must be invested in the company and believe the company is invested in them. It is the drawing factor for good employees that will make the business a success in that category. Change supervisions job from primarily disciplinary and enforcing and reconfigure to collaborating with stores to optimize and improve them. As it stands. Your store managers simply "button up" and hide issues for fear of being seen as in adequate and un worthy of promotion rather than being able to raise concerns and collaborate on issues for fear of loosing standing and thus chronic issues persist and are not addressed because for fear of supervision discipline or lower standing . Mix incentives and negating factors for bonuses to incentivize certain behaviors but also placing a check to prevent these from incentivizing cutting corners and deteriorate good work practices in the pursuit of bonuses. Certain initiatives like the CSR Program are great in theory but are implemented poorly. Despite being posed as optional or flexible, certain programs are are made inflexible as they are seen as mandatory and need to be adhered to at all times even when issues arise or the program ought to be suspended to adhere to the basic core goals. Supervision is to focused on maintaining these "extra" programs to make them core goals while the core goals of the store suffer when circumstances arise that put strain on the foundational aspects of the store to run smoothly. This builds positions or jobs that are being staffed by inflexible labor that can not be allocated when issues arise and demand supplemental or replacement labor to tend to the fundamental money maker. the customer. For example with the CSR program. it is stated that the CSR can check and call up the next checker but they are Punished for doing so as "it looks bad when supervision comes in and they ask why the CSR is in the check stand" Even if there is not enough front end staff to facilitate a quick and positive check out experience, whether it be to an influx of patrons or a staffing issue. The managers are punished if they are caught without a CSR even if having the CSR do something else would facilitate more sales or a better experience in another manner. Labor does not seem to be dedicated to this position to make sure it is staffed at all times without hindering the front end and thus robs the core values for an extra nicety that is often under preforms as the CSR's fail to properly engage with customers and achieve the desired effect. This program and plenty of other initiatives will never be perfectly optimized though better fine tuning and managed expectations likely could go a long way in refining and getting programs to work More "Bridge management." Engage with the lower levels of staff and taking their observations and opinions into account to build investment in the company and their work as well as to refrain the work process. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 6.0 Open Apr 2nd, 2024 05:15PM Apr 2nd, 2024 05:15PM Stater Bros.
