Comfortable, flexible working environment with helpful colleagues. Administration appears to support staff as best they can and interesting in developing department standards. (I worked in the English department, specifically, so that is my reference point.)

Could not tell me from semester to semester if I had a job. Spring is especially unforgiving. Very hard to plan for the future in this work environment since there is no reliability. This is typical for the industry, but nonetheless frustrating and anxiety-inducing.

Zero Pros. You might enjoy your co-workers, but there are so many people at the college either on their last few weeks or actively looking for work elsewhere.
|
The management here is a joke. People with little to no experience in any given field will be promoted to a manager position as long as they agree with the Presidents foolish plans. The IT Department has lost over 25 employees in the past two years due to Chad Shepherd the CIO. Chad will belittle and gaslight any employee of the college that he sees fit. He will treat anyone that isn't a member of the college's board or cabinet as if they don't exist or that they're below him. Other departments are having people quit abruptly as well, like Student Activities and Enrollment Services. The pay is terrible and the method of getting a yearly raise is laughable. Do not work here. Even if you're desperately looking for a job, get something small for the time being and keep looking. This place is bad for your mental health.

Horrible Pay, Horrible Turn Over, Micromanaged from the Top Down. They don't care about the little people. Everything is always our fault. No praise for good deeds. Higher ups critique you from their offices, and never actually experience what you go through on a day to day basis. Then they have the nerve to tell you how to do your job.

Beautiful campus and in a great location.

Most issues come from upper management.
Misuse of funds.
Frequently takes over a year to hire.
All departments losing their best people like flies.
Low pay.
Does not promote from within or professionally develop existing team.
Very secretive and exclusive from the top.
Red tape everywhere; you cant make a simple small decision without a huge committee and several months of meetings.
Management does not value employees suggestions and opinions.

The poor atmosphere the employees live in is rubbing off on students. I've started hearing many students talking about how the college is going sideways do to poor management. Open communication up, pay fairly, and promote from within while developing the team for their next career step. I wouldn't be surprised if some departments will have entirely quit in the next two months.
