* Members of management, especially the former CTO did invest in your career growth.
* There are employees who do care about the quality of the product that they are building and are competent enough to achieve it.

* There has never been a time in the years that I've worked there that the engineers building a product where consulted about the timeline. When both management and engineering departments accept that a schedule is 'unrealistic.' This creates a stressful work environment and unsatisfied customers.
* Quality is suffering due to the impossible deadlines and too much time is being wasted firefighting.
* A proper QA process does not exist to detect problems in advance.

Coworkers are some of the smartest and friendliest people I've ever met, which makes the everyday work environment awesome.

Everyone is terribly underpaid. Management in general is pretty abysmal, they're either completely mentally absent or micromanage the hell out of you. There are basically zero benefits aside from stock options.

Poorly managed company

It is good to have experience with wearables as well as mobile technology. Striiv has built multiple wearable products and has a CTO who has deep experience with firmware and hardware development. While it has been bad there for years there have occasionally been efforts to turn it around. The positive reviews on this site are from managers so keep that in mind when you read the reviews.

The work is very disorganized and learning is a low priority. Initiatives are started but rarely finished. The engineering team is actually criticized for attending meetups which means learning is essentially not valued. Overall it is a bad environment. There's been a high turnover rate which means that there are few people who have knowledge of what the app is supposed to do and what needs to be done to improve it. It is hard to do any work when nobody has the necessary knowledge about the app. And there is nothing written down which would help new hires get up to speed.
There's a lot of resistance to making the necessary changes or apply modern technologies which means the code base is out of date by multiple years. By working at Striiv you will learn bad habits and won't gain any experience with modern technology. Your career will actually be damaged by working at Striiv.

It won't be easy, but the gain is tremendous
|
|
Working at Striiv won't be a easy ride, and to succeed, there will be hardships. To be honest, since I have worked for quite a few startups in my career, this ride has definitely been a roller coaster. We have celebratory moments, and stressful days, but at the end, I have noticed employees here are really passionate. This has been one of the few startups where I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and skills from just a short time. Yes, the culture is young, but the experience and relationships you gain here is well worth the ride.

Management was rocky before, but I have noticed actions are being taken to fix the issue. The CEO cares and it shows.
