Coworkers and direct managers in the engineering department were generally great

Leadership has absolutely no long term vision and priorities are consistently shifting with no warning. Everything is so focused on short term revenue that it alienates the user base with confusing (and frankly preditory) fees. Be prepared to have to abandon your project half way through, assuming you don't get laid off in one of the two rounds of mass layoffs over 13 months

Bad management/ leadership but fair pay and inclusive community

Pay was ok and remote work was nice. Second to that, the community aspect and inclusivity were the best part of being at this company.
|
The leadership team is a mess, layoffs are a big red flag. Management and leadership do not know what they are doing therefore an individual contributor will feel the burden every single day. Tons of rework, everything is a scramble.

Unfortunate, because certain departments were full of amazing and talented people
|

- Supervisors within departments are knowledgeable, helpful, and they care about the overall team
- I felt taken care of by my team and supervisors
- Communicating within the team felt fluid and efficient
- ERG's were very fun to be apart of - The team took time to teach each other about any knowledge gaps
- Co-workers are easy to get along with and know how to have fun, even through remote work

- Mass layoffs: May 2022 and then August of 2023. The way the layoffs being so close together feels quite telling about the future of the company.
- Senior management, or the "M Team" feels very disconnected from the rest of the departments. Letting go of important employees abruptly is very unfortunate.
- Senior management does not take time to fully understand the app, it's functionalities, and the work that goes behind it.
Overall, I'm grateful for the team I was apart of. However, superior management has a lot to learn from its own organization. It's very obvious how disposable their employees are to them. They owe their employees honest transparency and a change in senior management.

Great engineers and supporting staff, lot's of potential in the product.
|
Projects are all planned by the "m-team" which after layoffs is just code for the CEO, to seek out increases in revenue . Teams then fail to execute on timelines because they were set without estimates from engineering. or any direction from the CTO on how to architect the product. Teams are then tasked with figuring out a plan to rescue projects, which needs to be approved by the same leadership before they can begin to fix those mistakes. Said fire fighting projects are often redirected or canceled before completion as teams are redirected to the new shiny thing by, you guessed it, the m-team. Rinse, repeat.
