Sunrise does a good job at maintaining a positive company culture, and the people I have worked with are outstanding. Additionally, having the freedom to live anywhere in the Lower 48 is a big plus. Total compensation (salary + bonus + SEP-IRA) for experienced consultants is, on average, way higher than other firms in the field.
|
It is very easy to be pigeonholed, but that is more so a consequence of the nature of ERP consulting. Depending on your skills and school, compensation can be below other firms for college grads. No other financial incentives when being hired, such as sign-on bonus or relocation. Also, there is very little racial/gender diversity in the consulting resource pool, likely because a large portion of new hires originate from the same school with a certain demographic.

Pretty good place to start your career

Sunrise provides a pretty good opportunity to quickly gain exposure to various industries and ERP systems for new college grads. The leadership team is great, and I feel comfortable reaching out to any of them individually as needed. You can tell that even though consultants are located across the world, they really try and maintain a solid company culture, which could easily be neglected otherwise. During COVID, we have had regular company-wide updates from the executive team to keep us in the loop on how the company, clients, and projects, are doing. The retirement plan is pretty unbeatable.

Depending on role and location, the pay may only be pretty average. Working hours are often above average with late night/weekend work, and vacation days are pretty low. You sometimes end up working when you're on PTO anyway though. Working across several time zones is also a regular requirement. Sometimes consultants are expected to be "experts" in a subject that they aren't really knowledgeable in at all, and it leaves you feeling like you're in way over your head & can be very stressful when in front of a client. Being tossed around between projects with short notice is also stressful- your weekly schedule could change on a few days notice and it can really put a strain on your daily routine and personal life.

Keep doing a great job maintaining the company culture. Some of the lower level leadership ought to be reminded to respect employees' personal hours when items are non-critical. Try to further promote the new employee mentorship program, and provide some consistency & communication for employees around project assignments.

I was hired through the College Fast Tracks Program as a Supply Chain Functional Consultant. The first stage of the interview process started with a phone call to confirm and further explain my resume and the second was an in-person interview with John and Barbara. The interview was mainly them trying to get an understanding of who I was as a person and my work ethic. It was the most relaxed interview I have ever been through. John and Barbara are amazing!
The work is challenging, but very rewarding. Personally, I love the ability to work from home and getting to travel to the project site. Projects generally take 1-2 years and you switch to a different location/customer. This keeps the job exciting and you don't feel like you're stuck in a job doing the exact same thing everyday.
The employee pay and benefits are unmatched for a college graduate, and the Bonus Dinner Sunrise hosts is the highlight of the year. This past years was a 3 day, 2 night stay at The Montage Resort in Laguna Beach, California. Sunrise uses this event to celebrate their employees and all of the hard work they have done in the past year.
Working for Sunrise straight out of college is the best decision I have made.
