Company sponsored events (Saints Game, Christmas Party at Treasure Island, picnics, etc.) several times a year, often including family members A CEO that knows my name and asks me how I am doing Awesome co-workers. Seriously the best group of people I have ever worked with. It’s a big family here. Company matches health insurance reimbursements for attending a health club (Insurance covers $20 for 12 visits, company matches with another $20) Tuition reimbursement (some limitations apply) This year, the company gave anyone who got an annual health physical a $100 visa gift card as incentive. Quarterly meetings offer transparency into the company growth and success as well as areas in need of improvement Recognition of employees who out-perform. Laid back atmosphere Requests and acts upon employee feedback gathered in surveys/meetings. Promoting education with training opportunities Growing pains. The company is working hard at addressing issues that arise. One commenter mentioned that it isn’t a great place to work for women. I do not totally agree, as they have made strides to make it better for women to work here. They do need to do more, but they are on the right path. They have implemented sexual harassment training and have cracked down on any bad behavior that is brought up. There is a very strong female presence here, and the women that work here do NOT put up with inappropriate behavior and are very vocal about issues. It just takes a strong woman to work with this many men (11 women to 40 men. It’s a male dominated industry). Overall, I loved the people there. Other than those in the upper management positions, the people were really great. I feel bad some of them are still stuck there. 1. They are not flexible: You have to take PTO for appointments (all workers are salaried and still have to do this). Even if it's for an hour, you have to take PTO. You have to be in your seat for the hours specified during the day or they think you aren't working. And the hours you work cannot be flexible. If you need to come in early one day, you have to come in at that time every day. You cannot work 7:30 to 4:30 one day and then 8:30 to 5:30 the next. You have to have the exact same hours every day. One of their policies even said if you're going to get coffee from the break room in the morning, you need to arrive earlier so that you log on by the time specified. If you come in late to the office, even 5 minutes, they will make you take PTO for the day. If there's a snow storm or if you're sick, you cannot work from home, even the sales people. If you work from home, you have to take it as a PTO day, even if you are working 8 hours while you're home. The PTO policy is terrible and they won't give you extra days if you need it, in fact, they tell you when you're sick that you're sick too much. But with so many people coming into the office when they're sick because they can't work from home, it's no wonder so many sicknesses go around the office. 2. They don't value employees. They like to pretend they do, but they do not listen to ideas from employees on how to improve culture, but continuously say it's a great place to work, when clearly, that's not true. Multiple employees are unhappy, but are scared to leave, because management tells them they will never work at a better place. They ask for feedback from employees, and then chastise them for that feedback and sometimes even hold it against them. They're a sales organization, but don't allow flexibility to the sales team. They can't work remotely or adjust their hours based on the regions they're selling to, they have to be in the office all day because management doesn't trust them to work if they aren't in the office. On top of that, there are very few incentives for sales people (which is the opposite of any other sales organization). 3. The amount of harassment that goes on is disgusting. Women are treated very poorly. There was even a suit against them for sexual harassment, and the main offender is still employed there! Women are called the b word (to their faces and behind their backs) if they don't agree with everything or are told they are being "difficult." There is no internal employee advocate and the hired contractor is friends with upper management. In fact, one woman disclosed sexual harassment to this hired contractor, and the harasser was told who reported and what they said. Women are talked down to by management consistently and behind closed doors they're talked about even worse. If you're young and you're a woman, you're either harassed or told you don't know anything. It's one of THE worst places for a woman to work. They even refuse to hire men for lower level administrative jobs and will only review women's applications. 4. All of these reasons, on top of many more are why it's a terrible place to work. And nothing will change, because they always think the employees are the ones with the issues, not them. Clearly, with the employee turnover they have, it's not a great place to work. AND, given their sales numbers continuing to dive, it's clear that employees are not happy. They sell all sort of Zebra, Sato, Honeywell, etc barcode technology and supplies. The people you work with a great and the owner really invests in employee professional development (sales training, boom clubs, and company outings). They make you feel welcome from day 1 and a part of the team. They show you that they are real people who have lives outside of work. They also have great benefits and base pay is great for an entry level sales person ($40,000 a year). The managers are always willing to talk about accounts and sales calls. So there is a lot of coaching. Managers help new sales reps on calls and they do a lot of leg work for them. As an entry level sales position, literally nothing is given to you. When you start, you get no existing accounts to call on. You have to generate all of your sales through cold calling. They have a huge database of 10,000+ names you can call on. But, don't expect to be given accounts ever. Even if a sales rep leaves, usually the newer sales reps get the smallest accounts. I see the benefit in doing this because employees should have to earn steady sales business. You have to make 100+ calls a day. It's monitored on your computer and your call numbers are openly displayed on a screen that the whole office can see. Sales managers and IT staff nag on sales reps who aren't on pace for 100+ calls.
