Loved working here. Very busy location with a very successful cooking school. Management was great and staff was trained well and knowledgeable. Management cared about store performance, customer satisfaction and the store was well maintained.

Summary
|
Definitely not a great company and the upper management is not professionally caring about anything at a store level. They are concerned about the numbers that you delivered, which we far exceeded, however the inclusiveness of those at the store level doesn’t exist. When you don’t treat your people well, what’s the purpose of being there. Above store level is non supportive, professionally unethical and really grasp at straws to create policies which benefit them. So sad because their products are wonderful.

The management at our store is kind, flexible, encouraging, and supportive. I feel welcomed, embraced, appreciated and supported as an employee at Sur La Table. Typical retail: corporate wants clerks to do all the work from customer service to educating customers, but the pay is sub standard and no commissions. Sell a $1,000+ coffee machine or a wooden spoon, it's all the same to them. Confusing customer coupons that need to be explained every time. Decent discount, if you can feed your family on a discount - because how much you buy is watched. Recently sold with new owners now, maybe it will be better. Maybe not.
