Depending on the department the work environment can be considered serious, busy but fun. The students are respectful and easy to work with and the staff along with faculty makes the job manageable.

During my time with SBC, I was overall happy working there. The campus is beautiful and my co workers were very nice to work with. Pay scale was low.

The director of the alumni programs was very interconnected with us, we had a very helpful team leads and also lead-callers, these leading girls had helped me learn how to be a better caller, through bi-weekly discussions and goal-setting that felt very very personalized. I really felt the teamwork while we all shared a common goal of certain donation "gift" totals along with building rapport with the college attendants. There was no negative pressure nor any forced training, I felt every step of the way the team for Phonathon was present. A day at work is usually in the evenings for 2-hour or 4-hour shifts, for 2-4 shift max total which included giving an overview and the opening statement by the lead caller/team lead, and then we were off to call alumni on cards that were randomly given to us. When we finish up each call sometimes we had to send a written note by mail with information and other times it was to collect the gift with a credit card through the shared laptop. By the end of the shift, we tally up and count how many calls were made and gifts were committed. The hardest part of the job was after a long school day of classes and labs, it was really hard to pick up the energy to make cheerful and connecting phone calls- especially if it's a hard sell (so to speak). The most enjoyable part is the atmosphere, I loved working with my school mates but more so I loved the feeling of the fact that I was making a difference for Sweet Briar and representing a piece of SBC with every phone call. 1$ gifts honestly felt exciting for me and I was excited to know that these women really cared, like really loved the college. And they came to the rescue when the school had a bit of a bump- now we are #SweetBriarStrong, #SavingSweetBriar to #SweetBriarSaved, though I don't do social media much, I can say it was an act of God that gave Sweet Briar College the strength it has today. I thought it was really awesome to be engaging with women who went to the school previously, they truly enjoyed their experience there and so many stories had made the job a lot of fun. I felt like the team of Phonathon callers and I really got along too, we were really focused to reaching out to the contacts and when the school had its little bump everyone was instantly laid off. Apart from that, I would imagine they had a great startup because the college is doing super and have achieved multiple record-breaking monetary goals. Not to mention the amazing efforts of the women of Sweet Briar that had helped with new students. I truly felt belonging at the job, it is a college position mainly so it's part-time. (I don't know if the position is still available at SBC, you may have to check). Management had been extremely kind and understanding when life hits, I have not found any place to work like at Sweet Briar College.

Working at the barn was a fun easy working experience. I loved everyone that I worked with. Working with the horses was even better than the people. I loved working in the morning and with the horses it got my whole day started.

Lots of changes to the school and administration recently, but I have really enjoyed working here and for my boss. The president is changing a lot of things but the college seems to be headed in a good direction. There are lots of opportunities to try other jobs/get training.

The pay is so low, it's laughable and when you ask for a raise they just laugh right back. Nobody can live on what they pay. They will never give better pay so get use to being poor.
